Councilmen Present: Morehouse, Chamness, McCallen. Councilmen absent: Talbert, Henrickson. Minutes On motion by Chamness seconded by Morehouse, minutes for the month of June were approved as read. Monthly The Clerk presented and read monthly reports of the City Clerk, City reports • Treasurer, City Collector, Chief of Police, City Engineer, City Judge and the annual report of the Fire Chief and, on motion by Chamness seconded by Morehouse, same were accepted and ordered filed. Applications Ap .;.:� p On motion by Morehouse seconded by Chamness, the applications -of Blanche approved t Loretz and Marion Trichler for license to sell fireworks and the application of Rose A. McKenna to operate restaurant were accepted and approved. Demands On motion by Chamness seconded by Morehouse, demands approved by the Finance Committee were ordered paid. Adv. for bids m On motion by Chamness seconded by Morehouse, the City Clerk was dump truck M ordered to advertise for bids for furnishing the City Street Department with one dump truck; bids to be opened and examined Monday, July 18th, 1938. W.P.A. The Clerk read a letter from City Engineer Overmyer in which he re- ported on a meeting of the Works Progress Administration of Southern Calif- ornia and submitted a tentative estimate for the construction of the new fire station, total cost $20,000.00, cost to the city $7,000.00; improve- ment of the newly acquired beach front $75,000.00, cost to the city $15,000.00; extension of the 13th street storm drain to Palm Avenue $11,000.00, cost to the city $5,000.00; construction of a 10 ft. pedestrian subway under Ocean • avenue, total cost $15,000.00, cost to the city $7,000.00. The Mayor ordered the letter filed and a copy submitted to the City Council. Brunzell & The Clerk read letters from Brunzell and Jacobson and Walker and Eisen Jacobson dance relative to the condition of the dance hall floor to the effect that the floor floor is buckling and should be corrected immediately. It being the opinion of the contractors that the subcontractor should do the work, whereupon the • following motion was made by Councilman Chamness: 00That the City Clerk write Contractors Brunzell and Jacobson requesting that they post a $1,000.00 bond with the city, same to be held until the floor condition is corrected ' satisfactorily to the City Council and the City Engineer of the City of Huntington Beach.18 Motion seconded by Councilman Morehouse, put and carried. • Page 2 - Minutes July 5, 1938. Frankfort St. C. H. King informed the Council that he had secured right- w extension of -way for the proposed extension of Frankfort street to its intersection with 5th street on all property except one.
