Thursday, October 20th, 1938 r, Pursuant to adjournment of October 17th, the City Council met and I Lwas called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Mayor McCallen. Councilmen present: Morehouse, Chamness, Talbert, Henrickson, McCallen. Councilmen absent: None. C of C. The. Clerk read a letter and a resolution of the Chamber of Commerce zoning recommending the circulating of a petition to zone certain blocks of the city in the vicinity of Main Street, Palm Avenue and Acacia Street to 12th Street along Main and others. The Chamber of Commerce asks that the City I Council authorize the city attorney to prepare the proper and necessary .� petition to be presented to property owners in the district to be affected. ' Following motion by Councilman Henrickson: "That the City Attorney be authorized to prepare the necessary petition for zoning and restricting the district to residences only and to be known as zones 1 and 2 as sub- mitted by the Chamber of Commerce. 'That separate petitions for zones 1 and i 2 be prepared.' Districts to include property on the easterly side of Lake Avenue and up to the Pacific Electric railway tracks. Motion seconded by . Councilman Talbert put and carried unanimously. Attorneys The Clerk presented and read a letter from Denio, Hart, Taubman and Simpson, attorneys of Long Beach, California, under date of October Bth, ` 1938, and signed by Denio, Hart, Taubman and Simpson, by Matthew C. Simpson, to the effect that they refused to cancel contract as required by action of the City Council of the "City of Huntington Beachi° by resolution No. 814..Same was referred to City Attorney Ray Overacker and Special Attorney Bush. Orange Co. On motion by Morehouse seconded by Henrickson, the -Council appropriated Coast Ass°n. the sum of $10.00 to help defray cost of Christmas lighting prizes. i Armistice band- On motion by Talbert seconded by Chamness, the Council voted to pay Orange � the expense of a Huntington Beach band to play Armistice Day at Orange, cost I not to exceed $125.00, Matter referred to Councilman Morehouse to make �i arrangements. Ball park for The Clerk read application of Capt. R. B. Lindsay to use the City ball riding school park to conduct riding school evenings. And on motion by Henrickson seconded �1 by Chamness, the City Engineer was directed to contact W. H. Jones and find out what will be required of the city, and to advise him that in the event I permission is granted, it will be necessary for the operators to pay cost of I 7 all electricity, gas and water and furnish their own lighting fixtures and Lglobes. Report to be made by Engineer to Council at next'meeting. Pursuant to adjournment of October 20th, the City Council met and was called to order at 4:00 P.M. by Mayor McCallen. Councilmen present: Morehouse, Chamness, Talbert, Henrickson, McCallen. Councilmen absent: None.
