MINUTES
City Hall, Huntington Beach, Calif.
Monday, November 14th, 1938.
Pursuant to adjournment of November 9th, 1938, the City
Council met and was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Mayor McCallen.
Councilmen present: Morehouse, Chamness, Talbert, Henrickson, McCallen.
Councilmen absent: None.
Applications by South- + On motion by Henrickson seconded by Talbert, application No. 1
west Exploration Co. \
Well #3 of Southwest Exploration Company to drill well.No. 3-was approved and
surety bond in accordance with provisions of City Ordinance was.accepted.

Motion put and carried unanimously..
On motion by Talbert seconded by Henrickson, application No. 2
of Southwest Exploration Company to drill well No. 4 was approved and
surety bond for same.accepted on condition that.contracts be signed by
the applicant.. Motion put and carried unanimously. ,
On motion.by, Henrickson.seconded by Ohamness, application No-3
by Southwest Exploration Company to drill well No. 5 was approved and
surety bond for same accepted on condition that contract for same be
executed by applicant. Motion put and carried unanimously.
On motion by Henrickson seconded by Talbert, application No. 4
of Southwest Exploration Company to drill well No. 6 was approved and
surety bond for same accepted upon condition that contract be executed
by applicant. Motion put and carried unanimously.
On motion by Henrickson seconded by -Morehouse, application for
license by Southwest Exploration Company to operate derricks on Wells
No. 3, 4, 5 and 6 was approved. Motion put and carried unanimously.
. On motion by Henrickson seconded by Talbert, application for
derrick license by S. S. Wold on Reuther well on Lots 1 and 3, Block
215, was approved.

Block 215, was approved.
Application On motion by Henrickson seconded by Talbert, license appli

cation of E. X. Beaudette for derrick license on Lots 26 and 28,
Block 517, was approved.
Monthly reports On motion by Talbert seconded by Morehouse, monthly reports of
the city clerk, city treasurer, city engineer, city judge, chief of
police, Orange County Health Department and city collector were
accepted and ordered placed on file.
Purchase of Lots 1, 2, Mayor McCallen reported that he and Councilman Morehouse had
3 & 4, Blk. 2,
Redburn Tr, called on Mr. Hallicy and had been given a price of $1,650.00 for
four lots for the purpose of opening Frankfort Street. The Clerk read
Resolution No. 924 authorizing the purchase of Lots 1, 2, 3 and 4,

Resolution Block 2, Redburn Tract and, on motion by Talbert seconded by Chamness,

Resolution No. S2Z was passed and adopted by the following vote:

Frankfort St. C. H. King informed the Council that the Huntington Beach Company
extension
�. had forwarded data to the San Francisco office covering sale of property
for right-of-way for Frankfort Street and that.he expected a favorable

reply in the near future.
Sale of houses - On motion by Talbert seconded by Henrickson, the City Clerk was
Adv. for bids
authorized and directed to advertise for sealed bids for the sale of houses
recently purchased by the City and located on the proposed site of the new
Frankfort Street extension. .Bids to be opened at 7:30 P.M. December 5th, 1938.
Lots 9 & 10, On motion by Talbert seconded by Chamness, the City Attorney was
authori-zed to proceed to clear title on Lots 9 and 10, Block 812, Wesley
. Park Tract, through the Orange County Title Company.
Girl Scout On motion by Talbert seconded by Chamness-, City Engineer Overmyer
cabin
was directed to secure informal bids for moving Girl Scout cabin.
Demands On motion by Chamness seconded by Talbert, demands approved by the
Finance Committee were ordered paid.
Parking of The matter of preparing and submitting an ordinance regulating
trucks
parking of trucks along Main and Walnut Streets was deferred.
New car - On motion by Henrickson seconded by Chamness, the application of the
application for
city engineer for a new car for the engineering department was referred to
the Streets and Parks Committee.
New type oil Fire Chief Sargent called the attention of the City Council to a
heater

new type oil heater on the Cather estate well at 17th and Ocean. Mr. Sargent
stated that he believed the heater to be safe. This was confirmed by Council-
man Henrickson. .The matter of a permit was left to the discretion of the
Fire Chief.
Permit book On motion by Henrickson seconded by Chamness, the oil well permit
book submitted by the City Engineer was approved as to form.
Tax delinquent Councilman Morehouse called attention to a number of tax delinquent
lots
lots and asked that the City Attorney report on same at the next meeting of
the City Council, it being the desire of the City Council to purchase all
_V tax deeded lots and offer ,same for resale.
Trees Councilman Chamness stated that inasmuch as the $900.00 allocated for
tree trimming would probably not be used, he would like to see approximately
$600.00 spent in the planting of trees. The matter was referred to Morehouse,
Chamness and Beeson to report back to the Council.
`- Salary On motion by Chamness seconded by Henrickson, the salary of C. H. Killian
C.H.Killian
J_� was placed at $135.00 per month effective November 1, 1938. Same to remain in
effect during time in which he is absent from the camp ground management.
On motion by Talbert seconded by Henrickson, the Council adjourned
until 30 P.M., Friday, November 18th, 1938 '(�/
