MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION
City Hall, Huntington Beach, Calif.
Wednesday, June 28, 1939
The regular meeting of the Huntington Beach Planning
Commission was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by the secretary.
Members present: Wilson, DeBritton, Elliott, Overmyer, Over-
acker, Furr.
Members absent: Koppl, Terry, McDonald.
• On motion regularly put and carried Overacker was
elected chairman pro-tem.
P.?mutes The Clerk read the minutes of the previous meeting,
there being no corrections, same were ordered filed by the Chair.
Resolution The Clerk read a letter from the Chamber of Commerce
calling attention to an enclosed resolution, which resolution
in brief requests the planning commission to recommend to the
City Council of Huntington Beach that the area southerly from
Frankfort Street and east of the railroad track be zoned for
single family residences and, on motion by Wilson seconded by
Elliott, the Chair was authorized to appoint a committee and
that the committee be authorized to prepare a list showing lot
and block numbers and names and addresses of owners in the area
to be zoned. Motion put and carried unanimously.
In commenting on the resolution, Mr. Elliott stated
that probably nine out of every ten residents in the above
named area would be in favor of zoning the area.
H.B.Co. Following motion by DeBritton: "That the City Council of
Lots Huntington Beach be asked to request the Huntington Beach Company
to throw open to the building of new residences Block 911,
Wesley Park tract and other property owned by their company
along Main Street between its intersection with Palm Avenue
• and 14th Street" and after some discussion, the motion was
seconded by Elliott, put and carried by the following vote:
AYES: DeBritton, Elliott.
NOES: Wilson.
NOT VOTING: Furr, Overmyer, Overacker.
Budget The secretary informed the Board that the city Clerk
had set up the sum of $300.00 in the City's 1939-1940 budget
to be used by the Planning Commission.
The secretary was directed to write Planning Commissions
at Newport, Orange, Santa Ana and Montebello asking for copies
of their by-laws and zoning ordinances.

On motion by Overmyer, seconded by DeBritton, the Chair
By-laws was directed to appoint a committee of three on by-laws, same to
be prepared and submitted at next meeting of the Commission.
1.1ap On motion by Wilson, seconded by DeBritton, the secretary
was authorized to purchase a cloth map and roller for use of
the commission.
On motion by DeBritton, seconded by Elliott, the Com-
mission adjourned.VZ
