MINUTES
Council Chamber, City Hall,
Huntington Beach, Calif.
January 2, 1940
The regular -meeting of the City Council was called to order at
7:30 P.M. by Mayor McCallen.
Councilmen present: Morehouse, Chamness, Talbert, Henrickson, McCallen.
Councilmen absent: None.
On motion by Henrickson seconded by Talbert, minutes for the month
of December were approved as read.
On motion by Chamness seconded by Talbert, demands approved by the
Finance Committee were ordered paid.
The Clerk invited members of the City Council to meet with the
Planning Commission at 7:30 P.M. Wednesday, January 3rd.
Mayor McCallen recommended that the City Council adjourn as an
expression of sorrow and sympathy to City Judge Charles P. Patton and
family on the account of the death of his beloved wife Bertha, and that
the city hall be closed on Wednesday January 3rd between the hours of
1:00 o'clock P.M. and 5:00 o'clock P.M.thereby giving all officials and
employees of the City an opportunity to extend their sympathy and con-
solation to Judge Patton and the bereaved family.
Whereupon motion was made by Councilman Talbert and seconded by
Councilman Chamness, put and carried that the City Hall be closed
between the hours of 1:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 3rd, 1940
On motion by Chamness seconded by Talbert, the City Council ad-
journed until 7:30 P.M. Monday, January 8th, 19400
