HomeMy WebLinkAbout1940-01-03MINUTES Council Chamber, City Hall, Huntington Beach, Calif. January 31 1940. Pursuant to adjournment of December 27, 1939, the Huntington Beach Planning Commission was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Vice-chairman Wilson: Members present: Wilson, Elliott, DeBritton, Over- acker, Furr, Overmyer, Engineer Parks. Councilmen present: Henrickson, Talbert. Minutes Minutes for the month of December were approved as read. Mr. Parks Mr. Parks addressed the members and City Councilmen and gave an outline of the activities of the Planning Commission since its organization. He presented maps showing proposed streets and highways, also a Use map Maps belonging to the County of Orange and from which it is proposed that the City Engineer prepare a Use map for the City of Huntington Beach making such changes as are necessary to bring the map up -to date. Beach Then followed a general discussion relative to use of the beach and providing parking along Ocean Avenue. 49 Acres The matter of purchase of forty-nine acres easterly from First Street was discussed and recommended by Council- men Talbert and Henrickson with the full approval of all of the members of the Planning Commission. Abandoned oil The matter of cleaning abandoned oil derricks and derricks•& equipment from city lots was discussed with a view of equip, recommending to the City Council that som action be taken. Zoning map Mr. Parks called attention to the zoning map which, he had prepared and previously submitted to the commission and asked for any suggestions the members might be ready to offer. Joint meeting of Councilmen Talbert and Henrickson stated that they Commission & would make an effort to have all councilmen meet with Council the Planning Commission in the near future at a special meeting and would so notify the secretary.
