Council Chamber, City Hall,
Huntington Beach, California
February 19, 1940.
Pursuant to special call of the Vice-chairman,
the Planning Commission met and was called to order
at 9:00 o'clock P.M. by Chairman Wilson.
Members present: Wilson, Terry, Elliott, DeBritton,
Overmyer, Overacker, Furr and Engi—
neer Parks.
Members absent: McDonald, Koppl.
Members of the City Council present: Morehouse, Chamness,
Talbert, Henrickson, McCallen.
Special Chairman Wilson called the meeting to order and
meeting - stated that the principal purpose of this special meeting
purpose of was to meet with the City Council and discuss what had
been accomplished by the Planning Commission up to the
present time. He then called upon consulting engineer
Parks for his verbal report.
Mr. Parks -
Mr. Parks game a full and detailed report accomp-

anied by maps showing proposed street lay -outs, zoning
and land use plans. He stressed the advisability of
adopting a comprehensive plan taking into consideration
possible future uses of properties.
Beach front
Particular mention was made with reference to
the beach front and auto parking.
49 acres east
The matter of the purchase by the City of the

49 acres easterly from First street was discussed at
length. Mr. Parks stated that he believed it would
be a great advantage to the City to own the property
and especially that portion adjoining Ocean Avenue.
P.O.tracks - The matter of removing the Pacific Electric
removal of tracks dividing the easterly and westerly portions
of the t((��1 y3� discussed at length, it being the
opinion\ f' both the City Councilmen and members of
the Planning Commission that these tracks should be
removed thereby creating an ideal residence section.
It was agreed verbally between the City Council-
men that they would use their best efforts to induce
the Pacific Electric Company to abandon the above
named tracks.
Letter On motion by DeBritton seconded by Terry, the
authorized Chairman was authorized to write a letter to the City
Council recommending that they make application to
the Pacific Electric Company to remove their tracks
within the city limits.
Term of The secretary was directed to report to the
office Commission the names and term of office of all
members of the Planning Commission which are as
follows:

There being no further business to come before
the Commission, the Chair declared the meeting adjourned.
