Councilmen present: Chamness, Grable, Morehouse, Talbert, McCallen. Councilmen absent: None. Application e On motion by Talbert seconded by Chamness, the application of sign Mrs. A. Almas to erect sign at.215 Main Street was approved. • Southwest Expl. On motion by Grable seconded by Chamness, the application of the State #39 Southwest Exploration Company to drill well known as State No. 39 1 1 was approved. Applicatiom On motion by Morehouse seconded by Chamness, the application of sign Harold Harding to erect sign at 310 Walnut Avenue was approved. Resod #880 This being.the time to read and adopt Resolution No. 880 estab® Prevailing wage scale lishing the prevailing wage scale, City Engineer Overmyer testified under oath that the prevailing wage scale shown in said resolution is true and correct to the best of his knowledge and that the classes of . mechanics and laborers mentioned therein are all of the different types Reso.880 passed Adv, for bids required for the construction of stop and go signals at the inter- section of Main Street and Ocean Avenue. The Clerk read Resolution No. 880, establishing the general pre- vailing rate of wages for each craft or type of workman or mechanic needed in the construction and installation of.semi traffic actuated stop and go signals on Ocean Avenue at its intersection with Main Street in the City of Huntington Beach, California, and, -on motion by Chamness seconded by Morehouse, Resolution No. 880 was passed and adopted by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen: Chamness, Grable, Morehouse, Talbert, McCallen. NOES: Councilmen -I None. ABSENT: Councilmen: None. On Motion by Talbert seconded by Grable, the City Clerk was autho- rized and directed to advertise for bids for the furnishing of all equipment, materials, labor and other requirements necessary for the proper construction and completion of semi traffic actuated stop and go signals on Ocean Avenue at its intersection with Main Street. Bids to be opened and examined at 7:30 P.M. Thursday, May 15, 1941. Motion put and carried unanimously. Reso.881 o The Clerk read Resolution No. 881 authorizing the recording of con - Crossing at 3rd St. tract with the Pacific Electric Railway Company for the installationof a crossing on Ocean Avenue at its intersection with Third Street and, on motion by Chamness seconded by Morehouse, Resolution No. 881 was passed 20 Page 2, Minutes April 28, 194-1. and adopted by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen: Chamness, Grable, Morehouse, Talbert, McCallen. NOES: Councilmen: None. ABSENT: Councilmen: None. Pedestrian crossing On motion by Chamness seconded by Grable, the City Engi® at 3rd Street neer was authorized and directed to proceed at once with the installation of a pedestrian crossing at Third Street and Ocean Avenue in accordance with plans now on file and approved. Life Guard station On motion by Chamness seconded by Grable, the City Engineer on beach was authorized to construct a life guard station on.the beach at designated location and in accordance with instructions of the Beach and Pier Committee and at a cost not to exceed $350.00.- Offer on Lots The Clerk read a letter from Mabel M. Lambert offering to 14-16, Blk 215 by Mrs. Lambert pay the City $100.00 for Lots 14 and.16, Block 215. The letter was accompanied by cashier's check in the amount of $25.00 and, on motion by Chamness seconded by Talbert, the Clerk was authorized to return the check and inform Mrs. Lambert that the City would be required to sell the above named lots to the highest bidder as soon as all parties have been served and the proper notices published in accordance with law. Demands On motion by Chamness seconded by Talbert, demands approved by the Finance Committee were ordered paid. harking on -"northerly Councilman Morehouse recommended that the City Council adopt sidd,1-6f�jOcean Ave. and mark off parallel parking on the northerly side of Ocean Avenue within the City of Huntington Beach and, on motion by Morehouse seconded by Chamness, the City Engineer was authorized to so mark the street. Leave of absence - Upon his request Councilman Chamness was given a leave of Chamness absence for a period of ten days, April 30th to May loth.
