Monday, June 9, 1941 Pursuant to adjournment of June 2d, the City Council met and was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by the City Clerk. Councilmen present: Chamness, Grable, Talbert, Morehouse. Councilmen absent: McCallen. Talbert mayor On motion by Chamness seconded by Grable, Councilman Talbert pro-tem was appointed mayor pro-tem. Agreement - The Clerk presented and read an agreement between the City of Talbert drainage District Huntington Beach, party of the first part, and Talbert Drainage District, party of the second part, whereby the Talbert Drainage` District agrees to allow the City of Huntington Beach to.use its drainage pipe line for a period of one year at the rate of $90.00 per month, subject to renewal and, on motion by.Chamness seconded by Grable, Mayor pro-tem Talbert and the city clerk were authorized to execute the above named agreement on behalf of the City. I.O.Lea - The Clerk read a letter from I. 0. Lea, Route 1, Box 665, offer to rent land around sewage plant Huntington Beach, offering to rent the city owned ground surround- ing the sewage disposal plant. The letter was taken under advise- ment until next meeting of the City Council. Letter - Fish The Clerk read a letter from the State of California, Division & Game Com. of Fish and Game,ackhowledging receipt of a letter from the City Clerk relative to complaints about the manner in which fishermen were treated recently by officers of the Fish and Game Commission. The department stated that a representative would contact members of the City Council relative to the incident in the near future. Letter - The Clerk read a copy of a letter from James S. Lawshe to Mr. Lawshe Captain H.C.Meehan, California Highway Patrol, relative to furnish- ing location for United States troops to encamp over a short period in the City of Huntington Beach. This was referred to the Police and Fire Committee for their information. Demands On motion by Chamness seconded by Grable, demands approved by the Finance Committee were ordered paid. ImproVement, of City Engineer Overmyer presented tentative plans for improving depot site the site made vacant by moving the Pacific Electric depot together with certain recommendations for planting shrubs and make other imp- rovements and, on motion by Chamness seconded by Morehouse, the re- commendations were approved and the City Engineer authorized to proceed with the work as soon as authority is received from owners ' of the land. r 9, o�- -F e5 0 Stop & Go City Engineer Overmyer informed the Council that metal poles signals for the stop and go signals could not be furnished the contractor until about August lst due to the fact that priority is given the United States government by the manufacturer. Engineer Overmyer stated that the contractor is willing to install signals on temporary + poles, same to be later replaced with regular steel poles and, on motion by Grable seconded by Chamness, the engineer was.authorized .to proceed along.the lines stated in his recommendation.
