Monday, July 14, 1941 Pursuant to adjournment of July 7,. 1941, the City Council met and was called to order at 7:00 P. M. by Mayor McCallen.- Councilmen present: Chamness, Morehouse, McCallen. Councilmen absent: Talbert, Grable. Ord. #445 The Clerk gave Ordinance No. 445, an ordinance amending the salary First reading ordinance, its first reading. Councilmen Councilmen Talbert and Grable arrived during the reading of the Talbert & Grable arrive Ordinance. Alcoholic Bev. Notification of Alcoholic Beverage License Application of Oda Lic,Appli. M. Cryder, 203 Main Street, for On Sale Beer license was presented, there were no protests. Sewage Plant Communication from State Compensation Insurance Company relative Imp. to -improvements to be made at sewage plant was read. The letter was referred to the Sewage Committee for their consideration. Trailer Park A letter from City Engineer Overmyer to the City Council listing Y b Y Y g employees for summer months employees for the trailer park for the summer months beginning July 1, 1941, was read. The list is as follows: Marjorie Preston, Office Clerk, Class B - . $85.00 per month =, Don Maples, Ass't Caretaker, 11 A 100.00 Bill Redline, " " " B - 110.00 " " Earl Conrad, 11 " " B - 110.00 " E. J. Daetweiler, Ass't Caretaker " C - 120.00 Upon motion by Chamness seconded by .,Grable; employment of those listed above at salaries given was approved. ► Lifeguard On motion by Chamness seconded by Morehouse, employment of Robert Robt. Knisley Knisley as lifeguard for the period June 16, 1941 to September 15, 1941, -at a salary of $125.00 per month was approved. Lease on 22 ft. On motion by Talbert seconded by Morehouse, the.'Mayor:fand City strip r/w \' Clerk were authorized to sign renewal of lease covering a 22 foot sctrip of r/w from the Pacific Electric Railway Company, northerly of Newport Beach.Line tracks between Main and First Streets at a rental of $5.00 per annum. Depot site On motion by Morehouse seconded by Talbert, conditions set forth leased by city for park purposin a letter from the Pacific Electric Railway Company dated June 16th, es 1941, regarding proposed lease of depot site for park purposes were approved. The City Attorney was instructed to make application to the Railroad Commission for permission to establish pedestrian crossing as set forth;{and .that -a lease,:submitted-by Pacifid'.Electric Rail way --'Company in' ! aceordance 2 with ag..reement to''leasel-as contained iri their letter of Jun6"l6, 1941, would be executed. This, on motion by Chamness seconded by Talbert: 45 C Page 2 - July 14, 1941 Wage scale The Clerk presented copy of wage scale from agreement recently- consumated between the Associated General Contractors and the Unions of different crafts in Southern California; -the -scale to be in effect from May 12, 1941 to April 30, 1942. The wage scale was ordered filed with .the City Engineer. Lots 5 & 69 The City Attorney informed the Council that Lots 5 and 6, Block 111, Block 111 Huntington Beach, which -were -to be offered for tax sale by the County, were being -redeemed by the owner. Tax Ord. Some discussion but action on the matter of amending the tax ord— inance regarding redemption on tax sales was postponed.
