Pursuant to adjournment of the 4:00 o'clock P. M, meeting Monday,
December 22d, 1941, the Clerk appeared at the Council Chamber at 10:30
A. M. Tuesday, December 23d, 1941. There being no quorum present, the.

4000 P.M. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 1941
Pursuant to adjournment of the 10:30 A.M. meeting Tuesday, Dec-
ember 23, 1941, the Council met and was called to order at 4:00 P. M.
by Mayor McCallen.

Councilmen present: Henrickson, Grable, McCallen.
Councilmen absent: Talbert, Morehouse (Councilman Morehouse arrived
at 4:20 P.M.)
Councilman
On motion by Grable seconded by McCallen, the Council confirmed
Henrickson
the appointment by the Mayor of Councilman Henrickson on the Beach and
Pier Committee, Police and Fire Committee and Streets and Parks Committee,,
same having been vacated by Councilman Chamness's resignation.
The Mayor appointed Councilman kenrickson to act with Councilman
Grable on the Finance Committee.
Boe Tunstall
On motion by Henrickson seconded by Grable, the application of Boe
Co.
Tunstall Company to move retort from Long Beach and install it at 19th and
Palm was approved.
Demands
On motion by Henrickson seconded by Grable, bills approved by the
Finance Committee were ordered paid.
Councilman
At this time, 4:20 P.M., Councilman Morehouse arrived.
Morehouse
Mayor asks
Mayor McCallen informed the Council that he had had a talk with
f assistance
from
Governor Olson relative to the State furnishing assistance and protection
Governor
for the oil industry in Huntington Beach and that the Governor had suggest-
ed that the Mayor write a letter requesting such assistance and, on motion
by Morehouse seconded by Grable, the Mayor was authorized to address a letter

to.the Governor asking that he use his good office to give us proper policing
in the Huntington Beach oil field®

Defense
Dept.
Coordinator Chamness informed the Council that his de-
partment was being organized as fast as possible but that
there had been some difficulty in creating sufficient interest
in the seriousness of the situation and that he was in need of
a number of volunteer workers.
Contract On motion by Henrickson seconded by Grable, the Council
cancelled
Hal.Nichols- voted to cancel the present broadcasting contract with the Hal
K.F.0.X.
Nichols-Station,.Long Beach, on account of lack of telephone
line service and the clerk was directed to so notify the Hal
Nichols Station.
Spot Lights e On motion by Henrickson seconded by Grable, the Chief of
Police cars
Police was authorized to purchase and install spot lights on the
three police cars at a cost of approximately $15.00.
So. Calif. The Clerk was directed to write the Southern California
Water Co.
Water Company and ask that Mr. Harnish and Mr. Anderson meet
with the City Council at 3:00 o'clock P.M. Tuesday, December 30th
at the Council Chamber to discuss the water situation in the
City of Huntington Beach.
The Clerk was directed to telephone or otherwise notify
City Councilmen on;the morning of Tuesday, December 30th.
On motion by Henrickson seconded by Morehouse, the Council-
men adjourned until 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, December 24, 1941,

Pursuant to adjournment of the 4:00 o'clock P.M. meeting of Dec-
ember 23d, 1941, the Clerk appeared at the Council Chamber at 10:30
A.M.Wednesday December 24, 1941, there being no quorum, the Clerk
adjourned the meeting until 4:00 o'clock P.M. ednesday, December
24, 1941.
