Pursuant to adjournment of the 4:00 P.M. meeting of Monday, Dec- ember 29, 1941, the Clerk appeared at the Council Chamber at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, December 30, 1941. Pursuant to adjournment of the 10:30 A.M. meeting of Tuesday, December 30th, the City Council met and was called to order at 4:00 o'clock P. M. by Mayor McCallen. Councilmen present: Henrickson, Grable,Talbert, Morehouse, McCallen. Councilmen absent: None. Ord.#448 ..The Clerk gave Ordinance No. 448,.relating to air raid pre - passed y cautions, its second and final reading and, on motion by Talbert second- ed by Grable,,Ordinance No. 448 was passed and adopted by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen: Henrickson, Grable, Talbert, Morehouse, McCallen. NOES:. Councilmen: None. ABSENT: Councilmen: None. Ord.#449 The Clerk gave Ordinance No. 449, regulating the compensation passed - salary of city officials, its second and final reading and, on motion by More- house seconded'by Henrickson, Ordinance No. 449 was passed and adopted by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen: Henrickson, Grable, Talbert, Morehouse, McCallen. NOES: Councilmen: None, ABSENT: Councilmen: None, Ord.#450 The Clerk gave Ordinance No. 450, fixing and regulating the com- passed - pensation of city officials, its second and final reading and, on motion Salary by Grable seconded by Talbert, Ordinance No. 450 was passed and adopted by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen: Henrickson, Grable, Talbert, Morehouse, McCallen. NOES: Councilmen: None. ABSENT: Councilmen: None. 10.2 Page 2 Minutes Dec.30, 1941 Agreement - The Clerk read a lease -agreement No. 10692, dated May 28, P.E.Ry.Co. 1941, from the Pacific Electric Railway Company and, on motion by Henrickson seconded by Talbert, the.Mayor and.Clerk were authorized to execute same on behalf of the City. P.E.Ry.Co. The Clerk presented copy of an application of the Pacific applies for rate increase Electric Railway.Company before the Railroad Commission of the State of California asking for an increase of rates and, on motion by kenrickson seconded by Talbert, same was ordered filed. Adv. for bids - On motion by Talbert seconded by Morehouse, the Clerk was gasoline authorized to advertise for bids for furnishing the City with gas- oline for the year beginning March 20, 1942. Army to use On motion by Talbert seconded by Henrickson, the Council parks voted unanimously to allow the U. S. Army to use 17th Street Park and Lake Park for the duration of the war. Board for Mayor McCallen read a letter from the Governor instructing rubber ration- ing city councilmen in the procedure for appointing a rubber rationing Defense Organization board. Mayor McCallen stated that he had met with mayors of the County and with the Board of Supervisors on December 29th to discuss the above matter. That it would be necessary to immediately appoint a board of two men and one woman with alternates to assist and, on motion by Henrickson seconded by Talbert, the Mayor was authorized to appoint members of the board and submit same to the City Council. Coordinator Chamness informed the Council that he had attended a meeting of the Orange County Defense Council at Santa Ana and it was his opinion that the City of Huntington Beach was far ahead of ? most communities in perfecting its defense organization.
