MINUTES
Council Chamber, City Hall,
Huntington Beach, Calif. a
Monday, April 13, 1942
Pursuant to adjournment of April 6th, the City Council met and
was called to order at 7:30 o'clock P. M. by Mayor McCallen.
Councilmen present: Henrickson, arable, Morehouse,Talbert,McCallen.
Councilmen absent: None.
Beach The Clerk read a letter from the 40th Infantry Division calling
attention to the n6cessity of keeping down activities and especially
burning fires on the beach during the summer months. The matter was
referred to the Beach and Pier Committee and to the incoming Council.
HR 6750 The Clerk read a letter from Congressman Ward Johnson relative to
Bill HR 6750 and in which Congressman Johnson informed the Council
that he would do everything possible to prevent the passage of the
bill. The letter was ordered filed.
Army Day
parade The Clerk read a telegram addressed to Mayor McCallen from Culbert
Olson, Governor of California, relative to the parade held in the City

on Army Day. The telegram was ordered filed. •
Demands On motion by Talbert seconded by Henriekson, demands approved by
the Finance Committee were'ordered "P&Id.
Picketing
Ordinance R. Y. DeBritton addressed the Council and urged that the Council
pass an ordinance regulating picketing and that the City Council
impose a license for pickets coming from outside the City of Hunting-
ton Beach and, on motion by arable seconded by Morehouse, the City
Attorney was instructed to prepare picketing ordinance and present same
at next meeting of the City Council. A committee oomposed of Morehouse,
arable and the City Attorney was appointed to assist in preparing the
above ordinance.

Pier -
Army to barricade Engineer Overmyer informed the Council that the Military were
westerly side
making some preparation to erect a barricade on the pier on the west-
erly side and Mayor McCallen appointed the Council as a whole to join
the City Engineer in discussing same with aedy- atf 040i ;
On motion by Talbert seconded by Renrickson, the Council adjourn-
ed until 7:00 o'clock P.M., Monday, April n-1
