Monday, September 21, 1942
Pursuant to adjournment of September 14th, the Clerk appeared at
the Council Chamber at 7:30 P.M. There being no quorum, the Clerk
adjourned the meeting until 7:30 P.M. Monday, September 29, 1942.

Monday, September 29, 1942
Pursuant to adjournment of September 21st, the City Council met and
was called to order at 7:30 P. M. by Mayor Talbert.
Councilmen present: Henrickson, Grable, Hawes, Morehouse, Talbert.
Councilmen absent: None.

Saturday night After some discussion, on motion by Henrickson seconded by Hawes,

Resolution The Clerk read Resolution No. 907, accepting deed to certain prop-

ABSENT: Councilmen: None.
Bond accepted On motion by Henrickson seconded by Morehouse, the surety bond of
the Two Macks Electric'Company was accepted and ordered filed.

Demand for pay't On motion by Grable seconded by Morehouse, the Clerk was
property directed to prepare demand in the amount of $5,000,00 payable
purchased
to the Security -First National Bank, Huntington Beach branch,
for the purchase of land from the Mills Land and Water Company
as per contract heretofore executed.
Demands On motion by Henrickson seconded by Grable, demands approved
by the Finance Committee were ordered paid.
Insurance e The Clerk read a letter from Huston, Suter and Huston
Sewage Disposal
plant proposing to insure the Sewage Disposal plant against:
1. Earthquake;
2. Flood and action of tidal waters;
3. Malicious damage;
in the amount of $10,000,00 for the sum of $493.12 for a period of
three years and, on motion by Hawes seconded by Henrickson, the
Clerk was directed to order policy and submit same at_next meeting
of the City Council for its approval or rejection.
Mrs. Dabney _ The C1ePk read a letter from Ila N. Dabney calling attention

reduction in to an enclosed check in the amount of $113.65 covering returned

premium on fire insurance due to reduction in rate. Mrs. Dabney
called attention to the fact that she had not been given a portion
of the city's automobile insurance or liability insurance. The
letter was ordered filed.
Ord. J462 - The Clerk read salary Ordinance No. 462 for the second and final

462 was passed and adopted by the following vote:

Easement The Clerk read letters from the Southern Pacific Company and the
Pacific Electric Railway Company.calling attention to an attached ease-
ment for grade crossing from the east side to the intersection of 3rd
street with Lake Avenue and, on motion by Hawes seconded by Morehouse,
action was deferred ty the City Council until some future date and the
Clerk was directed to so notify the Southern Pacific Company and the
Pacific Electric Railway Company.
Crossing On motion by Henrickson seconded by Hawes, the City Engineer was
directed to make an estimate of the cost of improving the railroad
crossing at the intersection.of Atlanta and Bake Streets.
Application On motion by Henrickson seconded by Morehouse, the application of
approved
Cornelius Livingston for license to operate grocery store at 610 - 9th
.Street was approved.
Co of C. On motion by Grable seconded by Morehouse, the sum of $50.00 was
allocated to the Chamber of Commerce for special advertising purposes.
Telephone On motion by Morehouse seconded by Henrickson, the Clerk was
authorized to order telephone installation in the name of Victor
• Robinson, chief observer, Aircraft Warning Service, 907 Huntington
Avenue.
Water Mayor Talbert informed the Council that he had contacted the Orange
ahalysis
County Health Department and that they had agreed to furnish an analysis,
of water to be used by the City of Huntington Beach when necessary.
Bonds The City Attorney was authorized to prepare and present a plan for
10,% deduction for city employees to purchase War Service bonds.
Horseshoe The Clerk,was directed to contact the State Guard Officials at

Lake'3ark On motion by Hawes seconded by Morehouse, the Clerk was directed

to advise Mrs. Kirkpatrick that it is against the established policy of
y, the City Council to make permanent reservations for use of the Lake Park
Club house but that the Council will be glad to consider applications made
every two weeks.
Chev. pick-up On motion by Grable seconded by Hawes, the City Controller was autho-
rized to purchase a used Chevrolet pick-up from the Culbertson Motor Com-
pany for the sum of $495.00 to be used by the sewage disposal plant
operator.
Insurance Councilman Hawes made the report to the City Council covering invest-
igation made by himself and Councilman Henrickson in the matter of auto-
mobile insurance. The report stated that the insurance had been intelligently
> handled and that he had but one suggestion to make, that was that the 1923
and 1927 fire trucks carry collision damage. The Clerk was directed to
investigate and report to the City Council.

Mr. Palladino In the matter of assisting Joe Palladino to make repairs to a
building recently purchased. Mayor Talbert volunteered to call at
the Federal Office in Los Angeles in behalf of Mr. Palladino.
On motion by Hawes seconded by Henrickson, the Council adjourned.
