MINUTE Council Chamber, City Hall, Huntington Beach, California Monday, ?larch 8, 1943 Pursuant to adjournment of March lst the City Council met and was 1 called to order at 7:30 P.M. by the City Clerk. Councilmen.present: Henrickson, Grable, Hawes, Morehouse. (Councilman Talbert arrived at 9:05 P.M.) Councilmen, absent: None. _ Mayor pro-tem On motion by Hawes seconded by Morehouse, Councilman Henrickson was made mayor . pro-t em. • Dods Mr. J. N. Gingles addressed the Council and complained that dogs were destroying gardens around the town and asked that something be done by the Council to reduce the destruction. The matter was referred to the Police Committee and the Chief of Police with the suggestion that the Police Chief begin immediately to collect licenses for the year April 1943 to April 1944 and also contact those whd did not pay license for the period ending April 1943. The Clerk was directed to prepare and have printed a leaflet asking owners of dogs to cooperate with those raising • victory gardens. Ord.#469 - The Clerk gave Ordinance No. 469, relating to and regulating traffic Traffic on public streets, its first reading at this time. Application- The Clerk presented.applications of Standard Oil Company for permits Standard Oil Co. for wells A-40, A-41, A-42 and A-43 and, on motion by Grable seconded by Hawes, applications were approved and accepted. Demands On motion by Hawes seconded by Grable, demands approved by the Finance Committee were ordered paid. kayor Talbert arrives At this time, 8:05 P.M., Mayor Talbert arrived and took the mayor's chair. Ord. #470 - The Clerk gave Ordinance No. 470, fixing and regulating the compensa- Salcaries tion of city officers and _employees, its first reading. Councilman Grable, chairman of a special committee composed of Grable, Henrickson, Overacker, Overmyer and Furr, made his report and recommendations for salary increases and, on motion by Hawes seconded by Morehouse, the City Council approved and ordered the following increases effective upon the adopt- ion of Ordinance No. 470,, motion put and carried unanimously: Name Title Classification Present Proposed Classifi- Salary Salary cation C.
