Councilmen present: Henrickson, Grable, Hawes, Morehouse. Councilmen absent: Talbert. Transfer of On motion by Grable seconded by Hawes, application of Alex Kerr tPl license for transfer of hotel license at 470 Ocean Avenue from M. H. Clark was approved. Standard Oil Co.- Application of the Standard Oil Company for oil well permit on well Well A#44 ` A #44 was approved on motion by Morehouse seconded by Grable. Southwest Exp. Application of Southwest Exploration Company for oil well permit on Co.- Well "State" 541- well "State"- 54 was approved on motion by Hawes seconded by Morehouse. a Resolution #910 The Clerk presented and read Resolution No. 910, cancelling taxes cancelling taxes on Lots 12, 14, 16 and 19, Block 912, Wesley Park section and, on motion b Morehouse seconded b Hawes, Resolution No. 10 was y y 9 passed and • adopted by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen: Grable, Hawes, Morehouse, Henrickson. Cancel bonds - On motion by Hawes seconded by Grable, the City Treasurer was autho- Crest Ave.lights rized to cancel Crest Avenue light bonds against Lots 12, 14, 16 and 18, Block 812, Wesley Park section. Salaries - The Clerk read a letter from C. P. Patton, president of the Hunting - Librarians ton Beach Library Board regarding raises in salaries for library employees. On motion by Morehouse, seconded by Grable, the Library Board was given permission to exceed budget for the purpose of raise in salaries in an amount not more that 0300.00 for balance of fiscal year. l 0 U. Page 2 - Minutes April 7, 1943 ' C. of C. - beach The Clerk read a letter from the Chamber of Commerce re- gs.rding efforts to have the State of California acquire beach frontage between Huntington Beach and Newport Beach for public use and, on ' motion by Hawes seconded by Morehouse, an expense account not to ex- ceed $100.00 was allowed Mr. Gallienne who was to represent the city at Sacramento. Service Men's The Clerk presented and readletter from the Chamber of .a Club Commerce regarding money to be used to maintain and operate the Service:, Men's Club in this city. On motion by Hawes seconded by Grable, ash allowance of $75.00 per month was allowed for expense -of the Service Men's Club. Demands On motion by Hawes seconded by Grable, bills as approved by • the Finance Committee were ordered.paid. Pier Insurance On motion by Morehouse seconded by Hawes, insurance policy on,the pier as presented by Robbins -Henderson, Ltd., premium $4,500.00 for three years, was accepted. Dr. Hawes reported that the city engineer was attending a Civilian Defense meeting this evening so was absent. Fire Ins. on On motion by Hawes seconded by Morehouse, the Clerk was direct - Recreation Bldg. ed to get information orrfire insurance on the recreation building now located in Standard Oil Camp for the insurance committee and they were. given power to act in the matter. State Comp. Ins. Councilman Henrickson reported that there was a bill before the State Legislature to do away with the State Compensation Insurance Fund and throw all the business over to private companies. Mr. Bundy who was present addressed the Council favoring the State Compensation Insurance Fund as protecting both employers and employees. On motion -by Hawes seconded by Grable, the City Attorney was asked to get further information regarding the compensation insurance bill and report his findings to the insurance committee. It was suggested that the City Clerk write letters to the State Representatives endorsing S.B. 546 and A.B. 224 regarding workmen's comp- • ensation for volunteer civilian defense workers to be paid by the State. It was suggested that the City Clerk also write endorsing ap- propriation and allocation of funds for defense needs to the various cities and counties. 'These bills,are known as S.B. 796 and A.B. 1672. Doi License Matter of do license for the current _ g year, the Chief of Police was authorized to advertise that dog license are now due and must be paid. Delinquent waste water- On motion by Grable seconded by Hawes, the City Attorney was referred -to City Att'y authorized to bring suit against Frank Haegele or others interested in- y: the well for delinquent waste water charges and against Fletcher Dart W.B.
