Council Chamber, City Hall,
Huntington Beach, California
Monday, May 3, 1943.
The regular meeting ofsthe City Council was called to order'at
7:30 P. M. by the Clerk.
Councilmen present: Henrickson, Grable, Morehouse, Hawes.
Councilmen absent_: Talbert.
On motion by Morehouse seconded by Henrickson, Councilman Hawes
was appointed mayor pro®tem,
On motion by Morehouse seconded by Henrickson, minutes for the
month of April were approved as read.
Monthly The Clerk read monthly reports of the City Treasurer, City Clerk,
Reports
City Collector, City Engineer, City Judge and Chief of Police and, on
motion by Henrickson seconded by Grable, the.same were accepted and
- ordered filed.
Application - On motion by Henrickson seconded by Morehouse, the application
Service Station
of Russell M. Robb to operate service station at 520 Ocean Avenue was
approved.
Application On motion by Grable seconded by Henrickson, the application of
contractor
Thermon Means to -engage in the business of contracting was approved.
Report - damage The Clerk read a report from Engiheer.Overmyer covering damage to
to pier
the municipal pier January 23, 1943. The report recommended that the
insurance company be billed with $2,452.00 covering damages and that
replacement of the landing equipment be deferred until a later date
when manpower and materials may be obtained more easily and, on motion
by Henrickson seconded by Grable, the report was accepted and the
Clerk directed to bill the insurance company as per the engineer's
recommendations4
Cantando Club
On motion by
Henrickson seconded by Morehouse, the Council
Easter music
appropriated the sum of $100.00 to.cover music by the Cantando Club.
Civilian Service m The Clerk presented minutes and monthly report of Wm. Gallienne,
report
Director of Civilian Service. Same was accepted and ordered filed.
Application On motion by Grable seconded by Morehouse, the application of
SOuthwest.Exp.Co.
State well J=10 Southwest Exploration Company to drill well known as State J-10
was approved.
Surety bond - On motion by Henrickson seconded by Grable, the surety bond of
Pacific Plumbing Co.
Henry H. Schlueter, doing business as Pacific Plumbing Company, was
accepted and ordered filed.

On motion by Henrickson seconded by (arable, the Windsor Club was
given permission to use the Pav-A-Lon free of charge Wednesday evening,
May 26, 1943-
The-Clerk presented•and read Weed Resolution No. 912 and, on motion
by Henrickson seconded by Morehouse, Resolution No. 912 was passed and
adopted by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen: Henrickson, arable, Morehouse, Hawes.
NOES:, Councilmen: None.
ABSENT: Councilmen: Talbert.
On motion by Henrickson seconded by arable, demands approved by the
Finance Committee were ordered paid.
On motion by Henrickson seconded by (arable, the City Council adjourned
until 7:30 P.M. Monday, May 17th, 1943.
