MINUTES
Council Chamber, City Hall
Huntington Beach, California
Monday, September 13, 1943
Pursuant to adjournment of September 7th, the City Council met
and was called to order at 7:30 P. M. by Mayor Talbert.
Councilmen present: Henrickson, Grable, Hawes, Morehouse, Talbert.
Councilmen absent None.
Appl. On motion by Grable seconded by Henrickson the application of
Hunt. State Co.
State #3 Huntington State Company to erect derrick and drill oil well on lots
1, 2, 3,.and 4 Block 119 was approved, provided that the regulation
surety bond be filed with the Clerk.
Bids The Clerk read.a letter from City Engineer Overmyer.in which he

recommended that the bid of Wallace and Tiernan in the amount of
$1,552.00 for furnishing the City with a chlorinator for the sewage
disposal plant be accepted and all other bids be rejected. On motion
by Henrickson seconded,by Grable the matter was taken under advisement
by the Council for action at next meeting of the City Council.
Additional The Clerk read a letter from Fire Chief Sargent recommending that
Firemen
additional regular men, at least two, be employed in the fire depart-
ment. Reason being that the Volunteer force was limited and hard to
replace. The matter was taken under advisement until next meeting of
the City Council, on motion by Morehouse seconded by Grable.
Demo et al The Clerk read a letter from Denio, Hart, Taubman and Simpson
informing the City Council of a Court decision in their (Denio et al)
favor and offering their services to the city. This matter was taken
under advisement.
Golf Green The Clerk informed the Council that a truck in operation for the
Ho.6 damaged
Standard Oil Company had run over golf green No. 6 damaging it severely.
Mayor Talbert volunteered to call the matter to the attention of the
Standard Oil Co.
On motion by Henrickson, seconded by Hawes the Council adjourned
until 12:00 o'clock noon, Thursday September 16th, 1943.
