HomeMy WebLinkAbout1943-10-06270 Reso. #917 Ord. #477 lot Reading Recreation Bldgo MINUTES Council Chamber, City Hall, Huntington Beach, California Wednesday, October t, 1943 Pursuant to adjournment of October 4th, the City Council met and was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Mayor Talbert. Councilmen present: arable, Hawes, Morehouse, Talbert. Councilmen absent: Henriokson. The Clerk read Resolution No. 917, cancelling taxes on tax deeded lot lb, Block 513, Huntington Beach 17th Street Section and, on motion by arable seconded by Hawes, Resolution No. 917 was passed and adopted by the following vote: AYES:- Councilmen: arable, Hawes, Morehouse, Talbert. NOES: Councilmen: None. ABSENT: Councilmen: Henrickson. The Clerk gave Ordinance No. 477, declaring the destruction of property owned by the City to be a misdemeanor, its first reading. The Clerk informed the Council that Mr. Standish of the Standards Ail Company had called relative to the recreation building purobased from the Standard,1011 Company by the City of Huntington Beach and asked to know when the building will be moved out or if -the City desired to resell to someone who would dismantel and remove. Mayor Talbert stated that he would look into the matter immediately and try to get the building moved. Denio at al Fred Attorney/Forgy representing Denio, Hart, Taubman and Simpson in their case against the City of Huntington Beach addressed the Council and stated that he would be glad to answer any questions relative to a final settlement of the above named case. After a lengthy discussion with members of the Council, City Attorney Overacker and special Attor- ney Judge Frank Drumm, Attorney Forgy agreed to contact the plaintiff in the above named case relative to a cash settlement and report back to City Attorney Overaoker by Friday noon, October-S. 1943, Att°y Drumm o On motion by Morehouse seconded by arable, Attorney F. C. Drumm Special Counsel was employed as special counsel for the City of Huntington Beach in connection with the claim of Denio, Hart, Taubman and Simpson against the City of Huntington Beach. The compensation of Attorney Drumm 'to be later determined when the extent of his services can be more accurately estimated. 0 On motion by Morehouse seconded by Hawes, the Council adjourned until 7:30 P.M.
