The regular meeting of the City Council was called to
order at
7:30 P.M. by Mayor Talbert.
Councilmen present: Henrickson,-Grable,
Hawes, Morehouse,
Talbert..
Councilmen absent: None.
Minutes
On motion by Henrickson seconded by
Hawes, minutes for the month
of March were approved as read.
Monthly
The Clerk read monthly reports of the City Treasurer,
City Clerk,
reports
City Collector, City Engineer, City Judge
and Chief of'Police,
and on
motion by Grable seconded by Hawes, same were accepted and ordered
filed.
Mr. Cooley m tree A letter from Mr. Cooley, 416 e llth Street, asking permission to

remove tree was referred to the Streets and Parks Committee and the
City Engineer for investigation and report to the City Council,
Elementary
On motion by Morehouse seconded by Henrickson, the Elementary P.T.A.
P.T.A.,
was given permission to use Memorial Hall 'and the Lake Park Club house
free of charge for dances to be held on Friday nights twice monthly, it

being understood that if the halls are both being used for other purposes,
the dances will have to be postponed.

On motion by Henrickson seconded by Grable, the appointment of D. W.

Huffman as relief patrolman by Chief of Police Blossom at a salary of
$175.00 per month was approved..
Mr. Whitsel
The matter of employment of James E. Whitsel in the Park Department
was referred to the City Engineer for his approval at next meeting ofo the
City Council.

The Clerk gave Ordinance No. 480, a curfew ordinance, its first

The Clerk read.bid of Marguerite F. Ballough in the amount of $300.00

The Mayor informed those present that he would proceed to sell at

public auction in accordance with previous advertisement, certain tax deeded
lots. Lot 16 in Block 408, Main Street_Section was offered, the -highest
bidder being Glenn A. Cook of 3328 Pasadena Avenue, Los Angeles, in the
amount of $250.00 and, on motion by Henrickson seconded by Grable, the bid
was accepted and the Clerk directed to complete escrow instructions.

Mr.Vidal sale and, on motion by Henrickson seconded by Hawes, the bid of Ray Vidal
in the amount of $225.00 was accepted.

of.$301.50 and, on motion by Hawes seconded by Henrickson, the bid was
accepted.
Mutual Aid The Clerk presented and read MUTUAL AID FIRE PLAN, Region No. 9, same
Fire Plan -
being a proposed plan for mutual aid in fire fighting equipment and., on motion
by :kenrickson seconded by Morehouse, the Council approved the plan and autho-
rized the Mayor and City Clerk and the Fire Chief to voice the approval by
signing the plan.
Demands On motion by Hawes seconded by Henrickson, demands approved by the
Finance Committee were ordered paid.
Pav-A-Lon On motion by Hawes seconded by Ienrickson,, the Windsor Club was given
Windsor Club
May loth permission to use the Pav-A-Lon May loth instead of a former arrangement as
of April 26th.
Planning Inst.-The Clerk submitted copy of a report by Building Coordinator W. M. Clegg,
Mr. Clegg
covering his attendance at the L. A. Community Planning Institute March 13th
„ to 17th inclusive.
Map The Mayor was authorized to have a map prepared showing vacant lots

owned by the Huntington Beach Company, the work to be done by Building Co-
ordinator Clegg.
Deport on City Engineer Overmyer was directed to prepare a report on the, condition

of the municipal pier.
D:elinauent The City Attorney submitted a letter from H. F. Bloomfield concerning
waste water -
Mr.Bloom- delinquent waste water bills and, on recommendation of the City Engineer and
field
City Attorney, the sum of $16.00 was accepted in full for all payments due
from Mr. Bloomfield. This on motion by Henrickson seconded by Hawes.

Lots 17 & 19, City Attorney Overacker stated that J. G. Harris of Long Beach
Blk 317
has agreed to pay the City the sum of $237.32 representing unpaid
taxes on Lots 17 and 19 in Block 317, 17th Street Section, provided
the City will quitclaim the property to him. The matter was held in
abeyance pending the payment of the above amount.-
Tax Title lots Attorney O'veracker stated that he believed he could get some out-
side help to serve notices on tax title lot suits. Mr. Overacker was
asked to submit an estimate of cost for doing. -the work.
Mr. Overmyer Engineer Overmyer stated that he and some of the officials had

report attended a Military Committee meeting and,that he would furnish a re-
port to the City Council.
On motion by Henrickson seconded by Grable,.the.Council adjourned.
