Monday, November 13, 1944
Pursuant to adjournment of November 6th, the Clerk appeared at the
Council Chamber at 7:30 P.M. There being no quorum present, the Clerk
adjourned the meeting.

Monday, November 20, 1944.
The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order at
8:30 P.M. by Mayor Talbert.
Councilmen present: Henrickson, Grable,, Hawes,, Bartlett, Talbert.
Councilmen absent: None.
Bldg, at Sewage Dwight Hughes addressed the Council relative to renting the city
plant to be
rented - building located near the sewage disposal plant to be used as a repair

and storage shop for his airplane dusting equipment. He also asked that

he be provided with space for a landing strip approximately 100 feet wide
and 1800 feet long. The Mayor was authorized to contact the present
tenant and see if arrangements can be made.
Councilman Hawes At this time, 8:45 P.M., Councilman Hawes asked to be excused from
excused
the Council.
Applications On motion by Henrickson seconded by Bartlett, the application of
'Electrical shop
B. R. Beard for electrical business license was approved.
Application: On motion by Grable seconded by Bartlett, the application of
Photo studio
r Berthold F. Tiesling for license to operate photo studio at 1121 Main
Street was approved.
- Hearing - The Clerk informed the Council that this is the date set for hearing
Huntington
State #18 in the matter of Huntington State Company's application to drill State No.
18. There being no objections and Engineer Overmyer 'stating that in his
opinion tb,ere would be no hazard in issuing the permit, and on motion by
Bartlett seconded b Henrickson the y permit was.. granted.

Bid on Lots The Clerk read bid of J. K. McDonald in the amount of $250.00
12 & 13, 202 VDM
for the purchase of tax deed lots 12 and 13 in Block 202, Section 2,
Vista. Del Mar Tract. A check for $25.00 accompanied the bid. The
matter was referred to the City Attorney with the view of having the
property cleared for sale.
Life guard service - The Clerk read a letter from the Superintendent of Streets, Seal
Sunset Beach
Beach, to the effect that Seal Beach does not desire to enter into a
contract with the County for furnishing life guard service to Sunset
Beach and immediate vicinity. Delbert Higgins informed the Council
that it is the desire of the Board of Supervisors that the City of
Huntington Beach take over and furnish life guard service for the above
beach. Whereupon, the following motion was made by Councilman Henrick-
son: "That the boundary line for the City of Huntington Beach be the
mouth of the Santa Ana river on the easterly side and the United States
Ammunition Harbor, Seal Beach, on the westerly side. That the -City
enter into a contract with the County to furnish life guard service
along the above named beach for the current fiscal year for the sum of
$3,825.00 plus $5140,00 allowed for the Sunset Beach area. That the
Mayor..and City Clerk be authorized to execute the agreement." Motion
seconded by Councilman Bartlett, put and carried unanimously.
Planning Commission -
A.F.Wilson The Clerk read resignation of.A. F. Wilson from the Planning
Commission and, on motion by Bartlett seconded by Grable, same was
accepted.
Councilman Hawes At this time
returns 9:25 P.M., Councilman Hawes returned to the Council
Chamber.
Appointment of On motion by Henrickson seconded by Grable, the appointment of
Ed Shaw on
Planning Com. Ed Shaw on the Planning Commission to fill the unexpired term of A.F.Wilson
ending April 24, 1945, was approved.
Councilmen Grable & The Mayor appointed Councilmen Grable and Bartlett to meet with the
Bartlett on
Planning Com. Planning Commission at its regular and special meetings.
G. IA. Parks On motion by Henrickson seconded by Hawes, the Planning Commission
employed
was authorized to employ G. M. Parks as consulting engineer on the Planning
Commission at a salary of $50.00 per month beginning November 20, 1944, and
to serve at the will and pleasure of the City Council.

Cancelling weed The Clerk read Resolution No. 954 cancelling weed cleaning charges,
charges
and on motion by Hawes seconded by Grable, Resolution No. 954 was passed
and adopted by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen: Henrickson, Grable, Hawes, Bartlett, Talbert.
NOES: Councilmen: None.
ABSENT: Councilmen: None.

Janeelling taxes The Clerk read Resolution No. 955 cancelling taxes on Lot 14,

IDM Block 602, Vista Del Mar Tract, Knoll Section, and on motion by Henrickson

seconded by Hawes, Resolution No. 955 was passed and adopted by the
following vote:
AYES: Councilmen: Henrickson, Grable, Hawes, Bartlett, Talbert.
NOES: Councilmen: None.
ABSENT: Councilmen: None.
Demands On motion by Bartlett seconded by Grable, demands approved by the
Finance Committee were ordered paid.
Curbing)& The Mayor stated that contractors are now about ready to begin
sidewalks
construction of buildings on Blocks 1003 and 1102, Vista Del Mar Tract,
but there are no sidewalks or curbing around a portion of 1003. On
motion by Grable seconded by Bartlett, the City Council went on record
as adopting a special policy to agree to install necessary curbing
around Block 1003 provided the contractors install the sidewalks. It
being understood that this procedure is to apply only to Block 1003
and then only if residence buildings are to be erected immediately on
the block.
Streets On motion by Bartlett seconded by Grable, the matter of repairing
A:, streets around and in the vicinity of Blocks llo2 and=1003, Vista Del Mar,
was referred to the City Engineer to proceed in the usual manner.
Boy Scout On motion by Hawes seconded by Henrickson, the City Engineer was
cabin
authorized to paint the inside of the Boy Scout cabin.
Recess_. At this time, 10:00 P.M., the Mayor declared a short recess.
Council again called to order at 10:30 P.M. All members present.

On motion by Grable seconded by Hawes, the Council adjourned.
