Hunt. A-74 MINUTES Council Chamber, City Hall, Huntington Beach, California Monday, January 15, 1945 The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order at 7:30 P. M. by Mayor Talbert. Councilmen present: Henrickson, arable, Hawes, Bartlett, Talbert. Councilmen absent: None. Jive Hamann addressed the Council relative to closing a part of the alley in Block 105 to provide additional room for entrance to the new theatre building. The matter was taken under advise - went. The Clerk read Resolution No. 956, selling certain real property and authorizing deed and, on motion by Henrickson seconded by Hawes, Resolution No. 956 was passed and adopted by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen: Henrickson, (arable, Hawes, Bartlett, Talbert. NOES: Councilmen: None. ABSENT: Councilmen: None. The Clerk read Resolution No. 957 cancelling taxes upon certain tax deed property within the City, and on motion by Hawes seconded by Bartlett, Resolution No. 957 was passed and adopted by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen: Henrickson, arable, Hawes, Bartlett, Talbert. NOES: Councilmen: None. ABSENT: Councilmen: None. On motion by Hawes seconded by Bartlett, the license applies- tion of Ernest F. Gielow for license as electrical contractor was approved. On motion by Dawes seconded by Bartlett, the surety bond of Ernest F. Gielow, electrical contractor, was accepted and ordered filed. On motion by Hawes seconded by Henrickson, the application of Perry Davison for license to operate furniture store at 421 Main Street was approved. On motion by (arable seconded by Hawes, the application of Theodore McElroy for license to operate dress shop at 124 Main Street was approved. On motion by Bartlett seconded by Henrickson, the applica- tion of Robert Dan Taylor for license to operate upholstering shop at 605 - 7th Street was approved. On motion by Hawes seconded by Bartlett, the application of -01 Standard Oil Company to drill Huntington A-74 was approved, 9 Tate -. - M/ Wores 000 Ja Mua y %6, 14 i- Hearing - The date for hearing in the matter of Huntington State Company Huntington State _Co. to drill State No. 19 was set for Monday, February 5, 1945. Contract - The Clerk read contract with the Stevenson Chemical Company, chlorine 641 Gibbons Street, Los Angeles, for furnishing the City with chlorine for the period December 31, 1944 to December 31, 1945, and on motion by Henrickson seconded by Hawes, the Mayor and Clerk were authorized to execute same. Paint city The Clerk read a letter from Lyndon A. Wells off6ring to Hall & auditorium paint the City Hall and City Auditorium. The matter was referred to the City Engineer with authority to purchase the paint, the . work to be done when.the rainy season has passed. Attorney The Clerk read a"letter from Attorneys Pearlson and Singer Pearlson 711 calling attention to the fact that the term "County Barn Dance" is being displayed in front of the Municipal Auditorium which is a violation in that this term is used by Bert A. Phillips and the . United Advertising Agency who have exclusive rights to that term. Y The matter was referred to George Mitchell. Mr. Patterson- The request of-C. G. Patterson to have a tree removed from tree , - the front of their residence at 302 Crest Avenue was referred to ` - the Streets and Parks Committee and the City Engineer. Law Enforce- The matter of .joining with neighboring cities in a Law En - me nt Mutual Aid Plan forcement Mutual Aid Plan was referred to the Council and ordered held over for further advice.. State Employees The Clerk read a letter .from the State Employees' Retirement Retirement System . System asking that.the City set'aside approximately $235.00 to _o, defray .expense of a survey by actuaries, and on motion by Henrick- son seconded by Grable, the•Clerk was authorized to make applica- tion for a contract. Demands On motion by Grable seconded by Bartlett, demands approved by the Finance Committee were ordered paid. Equipment for The Mayor stated that the City needed the use of 'rental clearing lots equipment for clearing tax,de.eded-lots. No action was taken by the~ Council but it understood.that necessary work and the rental of Golf Course equipment is advisable. Mayor Talbert stated a professional golfer of Long Beach had made application to take over the local golf course. On motion by Hawes seconded by Bartlett, the Council adjourned.
