HomeMy WebLinkAbout1945-04-13• MINUTES Council Chamber, City Hall, Huntington Beach, California Friday, April 13, 1945 The regular meeting of the Huntington Beach Planning Commission was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by President Langenbeck. Members present: Hudson, Langenbeck, Shaw, Davis, Furr, • Overmyer, Overacker and Consulting Engi- neer Parks. Members absent: Bristol. Visitors present: James Sayers, H. M. Hepburn, Joe Hamann, J. Sherman Denny, and President of the Chamber of Commerce Willis H. Warner. Minutes Minutes for the meeting of March 9th were read and approved. • Highway paps Meet with County Plan- ning Com. Consulting Engineer Parks reviewed the work of the Commission for the benefit of the newly installed member, Robert L. Davis. He suggested that the City Engineer prepare a highway map of the territory surrounding the city and three miles distance inland from the city limits. He stated that a map showing proposed highways connecting with city streets would be preferred. After some discussion, it was decided to con- sult with the Huntington Beach Land Company and the Standard Oil Company relative to an easterly -westerly highway in the vicinity of Mansion Avenue. On motion by Hudson seconded by Overacker, the matter of proposed city highways connecting with County roads was re- ferred to City Attorney Overacker to meet with the County Planning Commission and assist in coordinating plans. Other members of the Planning Commission were asked to join Attor- ney Overacker at the meeting if possible. On -motion by Overacker seconded by Hudson, the secretary was directed to write the County Planning Commission and request that they give 'the City of Huntington Beach notice of any and all subdivisions applied for and to be located within three miles of -the Huntington Beach city limits. Motion put and carried unanimously. Survey Engineer Parks explained how a survey of available resi- dence sites in the City of Huntington Beach can be made by eliminating undesirable or unavailable sections of the city. • He recommended that members of the Commission make this a special study and submit maps showing what they consider as desirable residence sites. Zoning Engineer Parks informed the Commission that he had visited Huntington Beach since last meeting and looked over the city with a view of proper zoning. Oil field The secretary was authorized to purchase three Huntington 11aps Beach oil field maps from the Division of Oil and Gas, Los Angeles. • There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. ­�2 Secre ary President
