HomeMy WebLinkAbout1945-07-09 (5)`fuq MINUTES 0- Council Chamber, City Hall, Huntington Beach, California Monday, July 9, 1945 Pursuant to adjournment of July 2d, the.Council met and was ' called to order at 7:25 P.M. by Mayor Talbert. Councilmen present: Henrickson, Bartlett, Talbert. Councilmen absent: Grable, Hawes. Recess At 7:30 P.M. the Mayor declared a recess to go into a meeting of the Board of Equalization. Council again called to order at 9:10 P.M. Councilmen present: Henrickson, Hawes, Bartlett, Talbert. Councilmen absent: Grable. .eso. #968 - Sale The Clerk s ead Resolution No. 968 approving sale of Lots 5, 6, ,f Lots 5,6,7,8, ilk 403, VDM 7 and 9, in Block 403, Vista Del Mar Tract, to Sam Clapp and Lulu_B. Clapp, and on motion by Hawes seconded by Bartlett, Resolution No. 969 was passed and adopted by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen: Henrickson, Hawes, Bartlett, Talbert. NOES: Councilmen: None. ABSENT: Councilmen: Grable. teso. 969 - The Clerk read Resolution No. )ancelling taxes on 969 cancelling taxes on Lots 5, came 6, 7 and 8 in Block 403, Vista Del Mar Tract, and on motion by Hawes seconded by Henrickson, Resolution No. 969 was passed and adopted by the .following vote AYES: Councilmen: Henrickson, Hawes, Bartlett, Talbert. NOES: Councilmen: None. - ABSENT: Councilmen: Grable. Lope ladder for The Clerk informed the Council that Fire Chief Sargent had 'ire exit at Evangeline iotel verbally approved of the arrangement to install a rope ladder for fire exit at the Evangeline hotel and stated that this was a temporary' V measure and,wbtild be improved upon later, and on motion by Henrickson seconded by Hawes,.the license application of Stoneburne'r and Strom • to operate hotel at 421 - 8th Street was approved. ,eague of Cities Attorney Overacker informed the Council that the California League of Cities, Regional Division, would meet August 23rd, 10:00 A.M. APPLICATIONS: to 6:00 P.M. in the Elk's Building in Anaheim. Schustek On motion by Bartlett seconded by_Henrickson, the application of Durnin and Schustek for wheel -tax license was approved. Melvin Hanson- On motion by Henrickson seconded by Bartlett, the application of Melvin E. Hanson for license to conduct the business of radio equip- ment, manufacture and sales, at 310 Walnut Avenue, was approved. Service Station - On motion by Aawes seconded by Bartlett, the application of R.W. I. W. Stewart Stewart for license to conduct the business of service station at the corner of Fifth and Main Streets, was approved. I 0* . 0 11 qU0- Page #2 - Minutes July 9, 1945 i 1 1 Bid on The Clerk read bid of C. S. Evanson in the amount of $150.00 Lots for a portion of Lots 19 and 21 in Block 504, Main Street Section. The bid was ordered filed pending re -advertisement for sale. Golf Course - The Clerk informed the Council that he was holding pay check of Anderson Arthur M. Anderson for $36.27 account service on the municipal golf course for the reason that there was apparently some misunderstanding concerning the terms of Mr. Anderson's employment. The Mayor stated that Mr. Anderson was employed with the understanding that he was to pay for water at the rate of $25.00 per month and rental at the rate of $25.00 per month and was in turn to receive all of.the proceeds from sale of supplies, all playing fees and a salary of $100.00 per month,and on motion by Henrickson seconded by Hawes, the Clerk was directed to inform Mr. Anderson that it would be necessary for him to pay one month's water rent $25.00 and one month's rent $25.00 as agreed. Salary of Jack On recommendation of Councilman Bartlett and on motion by Henrickson Ducommon Ration Board BuRaR s For 1945-1946 seconded by Hawes,. the salary of Jack Ducommon was increased to classifi- cation "-E" A175.00 per month as of July 1, 1945. Engineer Overmyer, manager of the Ration Board, asked permission to employ Betty Thiery for the month of July at the rate of 65¢ per hour to serve in the local O.P.A. office,. and on motion by Henrickson seconded by Bartlett, the request was granted. The Clerk submitted copies of proposed budget for the fiscal year 1945-1946 to each of the Councilmen and stated that there should be some adjustment in salaries in the Clerk's office. under advisement until next meeting July 16th..
