Friday, December 27, 1946 Pursuant to adjournment of December 23, 1946, the City Council met and was called to order at 5:00 P.I. by Mayor Bartlett. Councilmen present Grable, Terry, Langenbeck, Bartlett, Councilman Hawes arrived at 5:10 P.M. Councilmen absent: None. APPLICATIONS: On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Grable, the following applications were approved and ordered issued: Santa Ana Bottling Company, 1312.No. Bristol, Santa Ana, wheel -tax license to deliver soft drinks wholesale. Macs Distributing Company, 315 E. 4th Street, Santa Ana, for wheel- tax license to deliver groceries wholesale. J.B. Gibson to conduct the business of shoe repair shop at 110 Main Street. Standard Oil Co. On motion by Grable seconded by Terry, the application of Standard Hunt. B-97 Oil Company to drill Huntington B-97 was approved. Councilman Langenbeck not voting. Mr. Thompson The Clerk read a letter from Kenneth H. Thompson of Huntington Tram to race track.. Beach asking permission to transport passengers from the vicinity of the postoffice to the Bridget Auto race tract at the intersection of Highway 39 and Atlanta Street, and on motion by Langenbeck seconded by Grable, the Council authorized the issuance of a temporary permit cover- ing the next racing date after which arrangements will be considered for making regular trips. Parking Ord. On motion by Grable seconded by Langenbeck, the City Attorney was authorized to prepare a parking ordinance and in the preparation of the ordinance to consult with the Streets and Parks Committee, Grable and Terry. Stray dogs. Councilman Langenbeck believes that the City should.proceed with making preparations for handling stray dogs, and on motion by Langenbeck seconded by Terry, the City Attorney was authorized to prepare a dog pound -ordinance making provisions for catching dogs and delivering same to the Orange County pound. Councilman Hawes At this time, 5:10 P.M., Councilman Hawes arrived. arrives. The Clerk read agreement between Orange County and the City Agreement Newland Ave. of Huntington Beach for the extension and improvement of Newland Avenue to Highway 39 at an estimated cost of $8 500.00, City and County to share the expense equally, and on motion by Grable seconded by Hawes, the•Mayor and Clerk were authorized to execute agreement on behalf of the City. 591 .Sale, of A discussion was had on the matter of the sale of the City!s, acreage 52 ,acres. Dr. Hawes and Mayor Bartlett were appointed on a committee t6-dueet with Committee the Board of Supervisors Tuesday, January 7th to discuss the matter of acquiring by quit-claim.a portion of Ocean Avenue... Demands On motion by Grable,seconded by Terry, demands approved by.the Finance Committee were ordered paid. On motion by Hawes seconded by Terry, the Council adjourned.
