HomeMy WebLinkAbout1947-05-06HUNTINGTON BEACH PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES Council Chamber, City Hall, Huntington Beach, California Tuesday, May 6, 1947 Pursuant to adjournment of April 15, 1947, the City Planning Commission met and was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Chairman Bristol. Members present: Bristol, Kaufman, Tovatt and consulting • Engineer Parks. Members 0 veracker, Overmyer, Furr and Lebard arrived at 9:30 P.M. Members absent: Hudson and Davis. The members present and Consulting Engineer Parks - discussed future planning. There being no quorum present, no action w as taken. At this time, 9:70 P.M., Overacker,.Overmyer, LeBard and Furr arrived. McMorries The application to the City Council for license to conduct • the business of polishing automobiles at 1121 Alabama by Clarence E. McMorries was discussed. No action was taken by the Commission but the opinions expressed were to the effect that this is not a home occupation and should not be allowed in the residential area. Mr. Purdy This being the date set for considering petition for conditional exception by A.B. Purdy, 601 - llth Street, namely: the erection of an addition to a grocery store at this address, the chair asked if any objections had been received by the secretary. The secretary informed the members that no written or verbal objections had been received. Whereupon the chair asked if there were any objectors in the audience. There being none, the members proceeded to discuss the matter. It was the opinion of the members that the applicant should revise his construction plans so as to make the from more attractive, and on motion by Kaufman seconded by Tovatt, the hearing was continued until 8:00 o'clock P.M., Tuesday, May 20, 1947, and the secretary was directed to suggest to the applicant that he get in touch with City Building Inspector Harry A. Overmyer and work out a plan more suitable to the surroundings. Hearing - This being the ddte set for hearing in the matter of So.. Calif: conditional exception instituted by the Commission on its Edison C o. own motion for the purpose of allowing the Southern Califv ornia Edison Company to construct and operate yard and buildings for the storage of material in all of Block 804, Wesley Park Tract. The Chair asked if the secretary had received -any objections. The secretary stated that neither written or verbal protests had been filed in his office. The Chair asked if anyone in the audience had any objections to _the proposed conditional exception. There being none, the Commission proceeded with the hearing. On motion by LeBard seconded by Tovatt, put and carried • unanimously, the Commission recommended to the City Council that it grant the conditional exception to the Southern California Edison Company. 0 Page Minutes, May 6, 1947 Mr. Mauldin The secretary presented application for conditional exception by F.W. Mauldin, 409 - llth Street, in which permission is asked to erect living quarters over a gara e on the rear of Lot 9, Block 410, size of lot is 25 x 117 feet, with the further request that the lines of the garage and second story apartment extend up to the property line on either side of Lot 9.
