0 .673 1 -61 ,G MINUTES Council Chamber, City Hall, Huntington Beach, California ' Thursday, June 19, 1947 Pursuant to adjournment of June 16th, the City Council met and was called to order at 5:30 P.M. by Mayor Bartlett, Councilmen present: Grable, Terry, Hawes, Langenbeck, Bartlett. Councilmen absent: 'None. that Storm drain- On motion by Grable seconded by Hawes,/the recommendation of the J.E.Popovich City "Engineer be approved and the bid of J. E. Popovich, •for the const- ruction and installation of th& storm drain, be accepted and all other bids received-be-°re-jjeeted. Portable The request of Robert T. Seeyle for permission to install and dressing rooms operate public portable dressing rooms on the beach was approved on motion by Langenbeck seconded by Terry, for a one season contract on a basis of 25% of gross -receipts, provided the concession meets with the approval of Mr. Clapp. The matter to be handled by the Beach and Pier Committee, Drilling The Clerk read a letter received from Massey, Smith and Associates Bond cancelled in which they request permission to cancel their drilling bond on well located in Block 14029 Lot 2, Watson's Resubdivision. The matter was referred to the City Attorney. - Mr. Siracusa® The Clerk reada letter from Dante Siracusa, chairman of the Youth Youth Welfard Welfare Committee, in which he expressed appreciation for the recognition,, by the City Council, shown this newly organized group in Resolution No. 1019. He further stated that every effort would be made to sustain the confidence you have in us. The communication was ordered filed. Lifeguard On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Hawes, the Mayor and City Clerk service Agreement were authorized to execute the agreement covering lifeguard service with Co. between the County of Orange and the City of Huntington Beach commencing June 1, 1947 and ending June 30, 1949', which-.,, was- approved as read, Councilman Councilman Grable asked to be excused at this time, 6:15 P.M. Grable excused permission was granted. Agreement On motion by Langenbeck-seconded by Hawes, the agreement made and Nitzkowski entered into on the 19th day of June, 1947, between the City of Huntington Beach and Victor Nitzkowski permittee, for the purpose of renting beach iumbrellas and surf riding equipment in the municipal trailer camp for the term ending on the first day of May, 1949,.was approved. Mosquito The Clerk read excerpts from the minutes of the Board of Supervisors abatement of Orange County, California, taken from their regular meeting held May 27, 1947, as follows: "IN RE: APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS TO SERVE ON MOSQUITO ABATEMENT DISTRICT :. BOARD 674 Page = #2- Minutes June 19, 1947 Dr. Hawes appointed on Mosquito Abatement Board Plymouth sedan Police Dept On motion by Supervisor Gordon, duly seconded and unanimously carried, the Cities of Orange County who have expressed a desire to be included in the Mosquito Abatement District were requested to appoint a representative for their respective cities to serve.as a -,- member of the, proposed Mosquito Abatement District Board.11 Mayor Bartlett recommended the appointment of Councilman Rawes to serve as a member of the Mosquit©'Abatement Board, and on motion by-- Langenbeck seconded by'Terry, the appointment was approved. On motion by,Hawes seconded by Terry, the Police Department was authorized to piaee an'order for a Plymouth four door sedan. Motion put and carried by the following vote: AYES: �Counoilmen:. Terry, Hawes, Langenbeck, Bartlett. NOES: Councilmen: None. ABSENT: Councilmen* Grable.
