Monday, September 1.5, 1947
The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order at 7:30
P.M. by Mayor Bartlett:
Councilmen present; Grable, Terry, Langenbeck, Bartlett,
Councilmen absent: Hawes (Councilman Hawes arrived at 7:55 P.M,'
Application m The application of S. E. Wood, Sea'Breeze Village #55, to conduct

Station the business of service station at 122 East Ocean Avenue, was read by
the City Clerk and, on motion by Grable seconded by,'Langenbeek, the
application was approved,
Drilling DLangenbeck � On motion by Lannbeck seconded,by Grable, the application of the
Drilling -
State 4=32 Southwest Exploration Company to drill State J-32 was approved.
State J=1 On motion by Grable seconded by Terry, the application of the South-
west Exploration Company to drill State J-41 was approved,
State J-45 ' On motion by Terry seconded by Grable, the application of the
Southwest Exploration Company to drill State J-45 was approved.
State 62 On motion by Terry seconded by Grable, the application of the South-
west Exploration Company to drill "State" 62 was approved,
Fleet On motion by Langenbeck seconded by-Grable,, the application of Ila
insurance
N. Dabney to renew insurance coverage on fleet policy covering the City
of Huntington Beach equipment was approved subject to changing the $25.00
deductible collision to $50,00 deductible collision, policy to be written
for one year from date of present expiration.
Applicationso On motion by Grable seconded by Langenbeck, the application of Porter
Porter Sesnon
et al Sesnon et al, to drill a new well on Lot 6, Block 618, Huntington Beach

- On motion by Langenbeek seconded by Grable, the application of

filing of map and approval by the City Engineer.
Mayor Bartlett appointed Councilman Terry to the Finance Committee
to act for Councilman Hawes who was absent. \

495, the Clerk informed the Council that there had been no verbal or
written protests received. Engineer Parks of the City of Huntington
Beach Planning Commission pointed out on the map and explained the
general provisions in changes as covered by the proposed amendment to
the Districting Ordinance. The Mayor asked if 'there was anyone in
the audience who had any protests; there':.being no response, the
hearing was.ordered closed.

Mr. Cupo appeared before the Council and stated that he had
purchased a building, dimension of which is 20 x 40 feet, and re-
quested permission to move it on to the airport, On motion by
Langenbeck seconded by Hawes, that the building as described may

be moved on to the airport subject to inspection for architectural
appearance and conforming to the'City and.State Building Code was
approved,

The Clerk read a letter from the Pacific Union Metal Company in',

They requested permission to substitute an aluminum shaft in place
of the steel shaft as ordered. The letter was ordered filed.

The Clerk read a letter from the U. S. Corps of Engineers`, Los

Angeles District, requesting permission to install on the outer end

Culbertson to remove the third tree east of Main Street on the south

applicant to pay one-half of the removal expense should the Street

subject to the supervisory customs established by the Parks Committee.

same Dwyer, chairman of Girl Scout Troop No. 2, to use the Lake Park Club
house for its weekly meetings on Monday'3:30 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. for
the coming year, October 1, 1947 to October 1, 1949, and also for the
afternoon of September 29th, was approved subject to the supervisory
customs established by the Parks Committee,

Scoutmaster Troop No,l, for the use of Memorial Hall without charge.

The Clerk read a letter from the Huntington Beach Company in

City of Huntington Beach and asked to be advised relative to renewal
or termination of lease which expires October 1, 1947. The Clerk
was instructed to advise the Huntington Beach Company that the lease
would be renewed when presented by the Pacific Electric Railway

The Clerk read a letter from the Huntington Beach Company re—
questing the status of the slant drilling application, Block 417,
Seventeenth Street Section, of Harry Hunter and Associates. The
matter was referred to the oil committee requesting that they discuss
the subject with J. Sherman Denny, manager of the:Huntington Beach
Company.
Lease on
The Clerk read a letter from the Huntington Beach Company rem
strip of

q:esting advice as to what decision has been reached regarding two
front
agreements, one covering a lease of a portion of ocean front between
9th and 6th Streets and the other covering that portion of the ocean
front lying between 6th and Main Streets. The Clerk was instructed,
to write the Huntington Beach Company'that no action has been taken.
Demands
On motion by Grable seconded by kawea, that the demands as
approved by -the Finance Committee, be paid, was approved.
Airport
City Attorney Overacker Ray H. Overacker discussed with the
Council and explained the status of the airport and methods that
could be used in acquiring the property and the general costs that
would be involved.
On motion by Hawes seconded by Grable, the Council adjourned.
