HomeMy WebLinkAbout1947-11-24Council Chamber, City Hall, Huntington Beach, California Monday, November 24, 1947 Pursuant to adjournment of November 17, 1947, the City Council met and was ,called to order at 7:10 P.M. by Mayor, Bartlett. Councilmen present: Hawes, Langenbeck, Bartlett. Councilmen absent:: Greer, Terry (Councilman Greer arrived at 7:20 P.M. Councilmen Terry arrived at 7:30 P.M.) On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Hawes, the following Business licenses applications for business licenses were approved: approved. Security Engineering Company, 10g W. Whittier Blvd., Whittier, California, wheel -tax license to deliver oil tool equipment. J.A. Turner, 601 - llth Street, Huntington Beach,' toeonduct the business of.grocery store at same address. Alice Ingersoll and Ava Hinkle, 3671 Main Street, Huntington Beach, California, to conduct the business of cafe at 2132 . Main Street. D. H. Poppa, 804 Main Street, Huntington Beach, to conduct the business of 16 M.M. Talking Picture Service (Agent for DeVry Corporation, at 804 Main Street. All bids The Clerk read a letter submitted by Harry A. Overmyer City rejected on 2 toilet bldgs.Engineer, reporting to the Council that he had examined the bids sub - at MunoTroPark. witted for the construction of two toilet buildings at the municipal trailer park. As all bids exceeded the estimate, he recommended that action should be deferred until a later date. On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Hawes, that all bids that were submitted for the construction of two toilet buildings be rejected and checks deposited by bidders be returned was approved. Ord. #519 The City Clerk gave OrdinancetNo. 519, an'ordinance of the,City passed. of Huntington Beach, California, amending Ordinance No. 322 of said city entitled.. "An ordinance of the City Council of the City of' Huntington Beach, relating to and regulating traffic upon the public streets _.of..th_e.City of Huntington Beach and repealing all ordinances inconsistent herewith" as amended, its second reading, and on motion by Hawes seconded by Langenbeck, Ordinance No- 519 was passed and adopted by the following roll call: i -Ord. $521 Passed. AYES: Councilmen: Greer, Hawes; Terry, Langenbeck, Bartlett. NOES: Councilmen:, None. ABSENT: Councilmen: None. The City Clerk gave Ordinance No. 521, an ordinance of the City of Huntington Beach amending Ordinance No- 515 entitled "An Ordinance of the City of Huntington Beach, California, providing certain regulations governing the drilling"of oil wells within said city" its second reading, and on motion by•Hawes seconded by Terry, Ordinance No. 521 was passed and adopted by the following roll call: AYES: Councilmen: Greer, Hawes, Terry, Langenbeck, Bartlett. NOES: Councilmen: None. ABSENT: Councilman: None. Ord. #520 The City Clerk gave Ordinance No: 520, an ordinance of the City of passed. Demands. On motion by Lang enbeck seconded by Hawes, the demands approved by the Finance Committee were ordered paid.
