Pursuant to adjournment of January 26, 1948, the City Council
met and was called to order at 6:00 P.M. Monday, February 2,,1948.
Councilmen present: Greer, Terry, Hawes, Bartlett.
Councilmen absent: Langenbeok (Councilman Langenbeok arrived at
6:07 P.M.)
Nonthly The City Clerk read monthly reports of the City Treasurer,
Reports
City Clerk, City Collector, City Judge, City Engineer, Chief of Police,
and on motion by Hawes seconded by Greer, the reports were accepted as
read and ordered filed.
Councilman At this time, 6:07 P.M., Councilman Langenbeok arrived.

Business Frank McGinley Electric Company, 1668 West 252nd Street, Harbor City,
Licenses California, to conduct the business of Electrical contracting.
Brown Drilling Company, 1456 E. Hill Street, Long Beach 6, California,
to conduct the business of oil drilling contractor.
D.E. Byers, 1635 W. 17th Street, Long Beach 13, California, to conduct
the business of cement contractor, dt 523 - 17th Street.
Jess Bryant, 109 Olive Avenue, Huntington Beach, to conduct service
station at 120 Ocean Avenue.
Standard Oil On motion by Hawes seconded by Greer, the application of the
Hunt.B0112 Standard Oil Company of California to drill new well Hunt. B, Well
#112, was approved. Councilman Langenbeck not voting.
Sowest Expo On motion by Terry seconded by Greer, the application of South --
State J-39
west Exploration Company to drill new well, STATE J-39 , was approved.
State J-62 On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Hawes, the application of
Southwest Exploration Company to drill new well, STATE J-62, was

State J-51 On _ matlem by Terry seconded by Greer, the application of
Southwest Exploration Company to drill new well, STATE J-51, was approved.
Porter On motion by Terry seconded by Greer, the application of Porter-
Sesnon et ail
SAsnon et al to drill new well on Lot 12, Block 514, 17th Street Section,
was approved.
W.K. coo On motion by Greer- seconded by Terry, the application of W.K.
Company to drill new well on Lots 14, 16, l8, and 20, Block 221, 17th
Street Section, was approved subject to filing of satisfactory clean-up
bond.
Waste Water On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Greer, the a pplication of L.H.
Dodge for waste water permit for well No. 10, located on Lots 11-13-15,
and 17, Block 214, Huntington Beach Tract, was approved.

On motion by Greer seconded by Terry ,
Waste Water the application of Porter-Ssanon at al for waste water permit on
well No. 1, located on Lot 12, Block 514, 17th Street Section, was approved.
Block 1913 On motion by Hawes seconded by Langenbeek, that the request con-

tained in letter from McCallen Realty Syndicate for rezoning of Block 913,
Wesley Park Tract, to permit drilling be referred to the Huntington Beach
Planning Commission, was approved.
Salary - On motion by Hawes seconded by Langenbeek, the request of Harry A.
Ban Hurst
Overmyer, City Engineer, that' Ben Hurst, trailer park employee, be
placed on the regular monthly payroll under classification �E", salary
$205.00 per month, effective February 1, 1949, was approved.
Salary - On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Greer, the request of D.M.
Hillis
Blossom, Chief of Police, to change salary classification of E.S. Hillis,
Police officer, to Bracket "E", $225.00 per month, effective February 1,
1949, was approved.
Dant Con- The Clerk read letter received from Ray H. Overaeker, City Attorney

advising that Mr. J.H. Sparks had turned/ the City a cashier's check for
$500.00 in payment of rental due on the Dant barge concession agreement
and that satisfactory insurance policy was filed. The letter was
ordered filed.
Mro Sparks Mr. Sparks appeared before the Council and requested that the Dant
barge concession agreement be transferred to him, and on motion by Hawes
seconded by Greer, that the matter of transferring the lease be referred
to the Beach and Pier Committee, was approved.
Ord- 0525 The City Clerk gave Ordinance No. 525, an ordinance of the City of
Huntington Beach, California, amending Ordinance No. 434, entitled
"An Ordinance Fixing and Regulating the Compensation of City Officers,
Deputies, Assistants and Employees of the City of Huntington Beach", as
amended, its second reading, and on motion by Hawes seconded by Greer,
Ordinance No. 525 was passed and adopted by the following roll call:
AYES: Councilmen: Greer, Terry, Hawes, Langenbeok, Bartlett.
NOES: Councilmen: None.
ABSENT: Councilmen: None.
Hawes Councilman Hawes asked to be excused at this time, 6:35 P.M.

On motion by Terry seconded by Greer, demands approved by the
Demands
Finance Committee were ordered paid.
On motion by Langenbeok seconded by Terry, the meeting adjourned
at 6:43 P.M.
