M Wednesday,"., February 4, 1949 Pursuant to adjournment of February 2, 1949, the City Council met and was called to order at 6:00 P.M. by Mayor Bartlett. Councilmen present: Greer, Terry, Langenbeck, Bartlett. Councilmen absent: Hawes. (Councilman Hawes arrived at 6:07 P.M.) Minutes On motion.by Langenbeck seconded.by Terry, the minutes for the month of January were approved as read. Councilman Hawes arrived Councilman Hawes arrived at this time, 6:07 P.M. Business On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Hawes, the application of License George A. Brooks, 417 Main Street, Huntington Beach, to conduct the business.of selling pets and pet supplies at 502 Main Street, was approved. Applications- On motion by Hawes seconded by Greer, the application of the Drill well on Lots 26 & 28, Atlantic Oil Company, 523 W. 6th Street, Los Angeles, to drill new Blk 320 well on Lots 26 and 29, Block 320, Huntington Beach 17th Street Tract, was approved. Lots 22 & 24, On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Greer, the application of Blk 320 Atlantic Oil Company to drill new well on Lots 22 and 24, Block 320, Huntington Beach 17th Street Tract, was approved. Geo. Thompson, On motion by Hawes seconded by Langenbeck, that the recommenda- St . foreman tion of -Harry A. Overmyer, city engineer, to place George Thompson as street foreman in Classification "E", rate of pay $300.00 per month, effective as of February 9, 1948, was approved. P.-L. Huddle On motion,by Langenbeck seconded by Hawes, at the recommendation of Chief Electrician - Harry A. Overmyer, city engineer, that "Pending the revision of the salary ordinance to provide for the classification of Mr. P. L. Huddle as chief electrician, I wish to recommend that he be classified as electrical maintenance man, classification "Ell of Ordinance No. 498, and any additional inspection work required and found necessary by this department at an hourly rate as provided for in Ordinance No, 499. The effective date of this reclassification to be February 91 194911, was approved. Recruiting On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Hawes, that the request of Clair De Witt of the Corps of Engineers, U. S. Army, for casual use of the lifeguard station for recruiting office use, and said recruiting officer to work out time and arrangements with Chief Lifeguard Bud Higgins, was approved. Construction Company and the City of Huntington Beach, Agreement - Sweeping Route 60 inside city limits Occidental Life Ins. Lot 6 & scaly 150 of 8, Blk 314 in accordance with unit price of bid as follows, was approved: Approximate : Price per Quantity lineal foot 6345.0 Lineal feet combination concrete curb and gutter to be constructed ® $1.32 632.0 Lineal feet.of concrete curb to be constructed ® 1.12 6599.0 Square feet concrete gutter ® .47 per Sq. ft. . On motion by Councilman Langenbeck seconded by Councilman Hawes, that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute the agreement between the Department of Public works, State of Calif- ornia, and the City -of Huntington Beach, for maintenance of certain highways in the City of Huntington Beach, covering the sweeping of 3.49 miles -on Route 60, from -the westerly city limits -to the easterly city limits and Newland Avenue, at an expenditure of $150,00 per mile, was approved. The Clerk read letter received from the Occidental Life Insurance Company of California, who carries City Group Insurance Policy No. 755054, to accept an endorsement changing over from participating form to the non -participating form. The matter was ordered held in abeyance until further investigation could be made. On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Greer, that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute lease -agreement between J. W. Brashears and " Zora B. Brashears and the City of Huntington Beach, said lease covering Brashears rental of Lot Six (6) and the southwesterly 15 feet of Lot Eight (�) In Block Three Hundred Fourteen (314) of "Huntington Beach" as shown on map recorded in,Book 3, Page 36, Miscellaneous Maps, Records of Orange County, California, for a minimum rental of $50.00 per month, or when 1/8th royalty of production exceeds the minimum rental of $50.00 per month, was approved.
