Monday, July 19, 1949
The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order at 7;30 P.M.
by Mayor Greer.
Councilmen present: Terry, Seabridge, Langenbeck, Greer.
Councilmen absent: LeBard.
Mayor Greer appointed Councilman Terry to act on the Finance Committee
in the absence of CounoilmanxxM IN cxLeBardo
On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge the following applications
for business licenses were approved:
The Surburban Gas Service Inc., P.O. Box 396, Ontario, California to conduct
the business of wheel -tax.
White Rook Bottlers Co., 2151 E. 51st Street, Los Angeles 11, California to
conduct the business of wheel -tax, delivering soft drinks.
Garrison On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge the application of the
waste -water Garrison Trucking Co., for waste water permit for a well on Lots 2 6 4, Block
315, Huntington Beach Tract, be denied, was approved.
Brooks & On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge the application of Brooks
Bauerdorf and Bauerdorf to drill new well on Lots 2 & 4, Block 516 - 17th Street Section,
new well was approved subject to approval of bonds to form, by the City Attorney and
i filing of satisfactory map.
Slim Harrell On motion by Seabridge seconded by Langenbeok the application of Slim
new well. Harrell, Associates Ltd., to drill a new well on Lots 17 & 19, Block 519, 17th
Street Section, was approved subject to approval of bonds to form by the City
Attorney.
Elgin sweeper The Clerk read letter received from the Elgin Sweeper Company in which
price increasethey advise that the price of the Elgin Sweeper under contract dated March 10,
1947 has increased in price to the sum of $9,995.00 F.O.B. Huntington Beach,
plus the California State Use Tax of $249.88. On motion by Langenbeck seconded
by Seabridge that the Mayor and City Administrator be authorized to sign the
agreement accepting the increase, was approved.
® Library The Clerk read letter received from the Library Board of Trustees re -
Board commending that Mrs. Edith Vavra, 909 Magnolia Avenue and Mr. J. K. McDonald,
755 Main Street fill the trustees vacancies of Mrs. Sarah Whitfield and Mr. J. S
Denny whose terms expired June 30, 1946. On motion by Langenbeck seconded by
Seabridge that the recommendation of Mayor Greer to appoint Mrs. Edith Vavra
and Mr. J. K. McDonald to fill the trustees vacancies of Mrs. Sarah Whitfield
and Mr. J. B. Denny, was approved.
W. H. Jones The Clerk read letter received from W. H. Jones in which he requests that
his agreement with the City be amended to include the strip west of the bait
stand at the junction of Highway #39 and Coast Highway lying westerly and
bounded on the south by Ocean Highway for the purpose of parking cars. The
rental terms to be the same as in the original agreement. Mayor Greer referred h
` the request to the Streets and Parks Committee.
H.B.Planning The Clerk read letter presented by the Secretary of the Huntington Beach
Commission Planning Commission wherein at the regular meeting the Planning Commission held
Parks on July 15, 1948 its members by a majority vote recommended to the City Council
Compensation that the dompensation of Consultant Engineer G. Millard Parks be increased from
$75.00 per month to $100.00 per month.' On motion by Langenbeck seconded by
Lorenzen

Seabridge that the recommendation of the Huntington Beach Planning Commission
to increase the compensation of Consultant Engineer G. Millard Parks from $75.00
per month to $100.00 per month was approved.
The Clerk read a latter received from Minnetta R. Lorenzen by Ted F.
Meece wherein a request was made to the City to purchase Lots 21 & 23, Block 414,
H. B. tract and enclosed a check in the amount of $50.00 deposit. On motion by
Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge that the City Clerk be instructed to return
the deposit in the amount of $50.00 and to notify Minnetta R. Lorenzen that she
will be advised when the designated lots will be advertised for sale, was approved.
On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Terry the bonds presented by the
Glenn Falls Indemnity Co., for Jimmie Quick Neon Sign Co., and the Fireman's
Fund Indemnity Co., electrician's bond for Grimes Electric Co., were approved.
Reso. #104g On motion by Seabridge seconded by Terry Resolution #1048 a resolution
of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach requesting County Gas Tax
Money for the improvement of streets of major importance Was passed and adopted
by the following roll call:

ABSENT: LeBard.

Demands On motion by Terry seconded by Langenbeok the demands as approved by the
Finance Committee were ordered paid.
Mayor Greer appointed the following committee to be known as the "City Tax
Title Lot Appraisal Committee", Chairman, Councilman Langenbeck; Councilman
Seabridge; and Councilman Terry.
At thistime the Mayor declared a short recess.
At 8:45 o'clock P.M. Mayor Greer again called the Council to order.
Ordinance On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge that the City Attorney be
pay schedule instructed to prepare an ordinance establishing the recommended pay schedule
and vacation with a wide range of brackets and with that portion that deals with vacation
period. to provide that those employees who have completed one year service shall
receive a three week vacation if they take their vacation solely within the
month of October, November, December, January, February, and March, and for
those employees who take their vacation in the month of April, May, June,
July, August, or September shall receive two weeks, was approved.
On motion by Langenbeok seconded by Terry the meeting adjourned.

The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order at 7:30 P.M..
by Mayor Greer.
Councilmen prosent: LeBard, Terry, Seabridge, Langenbeok, Greer.
Councilmen absent: None.
Minutes On motion by Langenbeok seconded by Seabridge the minutes for the Month of
July, 1948 were approved as read.
City Mayor Greer announced that this was the date set, and as advertised in the
Budget City -
Huntington Beach News, for an open hearing on the 1948-1949/Budget, and
asked if there was anyone in the audience that wished to discuss the
proposed budget. There being no protests, on motion by Langenbeck seconded
by LeBard the budget was approved as presented.

Be- 18-5 hearing relative to amending the Districting Ordinance by adding
a new section thereto to be known as Section 18-5, R-5-0 District,
Multiple Family and Hotel District Combined with Oil Produotieni
and by amending Section 24 in said ordinance as may be necessary
