Pursuant to adjournment the regular adjourned meeting of the
City Council was called to order by Mayor Greer at 7:30 P.M.
Councilmen present: Terry, Seabridge, Langenbeck, Greer

kplications On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge the following _

Licenses. applications for business licenses were approved:
Jerry Hall, Box 697, Balboa Island, Calif. to conduct the business
of Wheel -tax.
George F. Casey Qo., 2627 So. Main Street, Santa Ana, to conduct
the business of cesspool contractor.
lulbertson On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge the application

lign for building permit of Culbertson Chevrolet Co., Inc. to erect a
neon sign was approved.
,ox Oil Co. On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge the application

of Fox Oil Co. to re -drill Talbert Well #2, known as the old Barns-
dale hole, was approved subject to the,filing of a satisfactory
map and the clean-up and drilling bond approved to form by the City
Attorney.
Ord.No-535 Ordinance No. #535, am Ordinance of the City Council of the
City of Huntington Beach creating various classes of positions and
providing for the rate of compensation of positions in each class
and repealing all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
therewith received its second reading and on motion by Langenbeck
seconded by Seabridge Ordinance No. 535 was passed and adopted by
the following roll call:
AYES: Terry, Seabridge, Langenbeok, Greer.
NOES: None
ABSENT: LeBard
V. H. Saunders On motion by Seabridge seconded by Terry the recommendation
of the City of Huntington Beach Planning Commission to grant the
permit of Vincent H. Saunders, 3101 E. gth Street, Long Beach, to
construct two two -bedroom homes, on Lots 39, 40 & 42, Block 713,
W. P. Tract, was approved.
Standard. Oil On motion by Seabridge seconded by Terry the recommendation

of the City of Huntington Beach Planning Commission to permit the
Standard Oil Co. of Calif. and the Huntington Beach Company to
re -open, produce and operate existing oil well located in Tract
260, Block C, being at the southwest corner of 14th Street and
Loma Avenue, was approved.

recommendation of the City of Huntington Beach Planning Commission

to permit Howard F. O'Brien, P. 0. Box 222, Huntington Beach, California,
to re -open, produce and operate existing oil -well located on Lot 13,
Block 1704, Tract 51, was approved.

Beal On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge the request of Mr.
Carlton Beal, agent for Porter-Sesnon et al, to cancel the clean-up
bonds on the following wells was approved in accordance with the
recommendations of Harry A. Overmyer, City Engineer:
DeLong Well, located on Lots 14 & 16, Blk. 315, H.B.
DelMarter Well, located on Lot 6, Blk. 61g, H.H.
Mauk Well, located on Lot 26s� Blk. 518, H. B.
Thomas Well, located on Lots lg to 28, Blk. 513, H.B.
Simmons Well, located on Lots 5 & 78 Blk. 5149 H.B.
Putnam Well, located on Lot 12, Blk. 514, H*B*
Contract On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge that the contract

Sewer ling for the construction of the Lake Avenue Intercepter Sewer Line be
awarded to Bosko Construction Co., 3844 Whiteside Street, Los Angeles,
California, and that all other bids on the project be rejected and
their bid bonds returned, was approved.
*Contract On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Terry, that the kayor and
agreement
City Clerk be authorized to execute the contract agreement between
the City of Huntington Beach and the Bosko Construction Co. for the
construction of the Lake Avenue Intercepter Sewer line, was approved
subject to delivery of the contract to Bosko Construction Co. upon
their presentation of the material and labor bonds, and faithful
performance bond.

State
Highways and City Clerk be authorized to execute the agreement for the
` maintenance of State Highways within the City, said agreement
covering the necessary sweep ing and cleaning on Highway #60 to-
gether with the Highway lighting and regulation of parking on
Ocean Avenue and Hampshire Avenue within the City, was approved.
Tree The City Clerk read a letter signed by John P1 Galbraith,

706 Main Street, Huntington Beach, Leo W. Farwell, 708 Main Street,
A. Y. BeBritton, 702 Main Street, requesting that the City trim up
a very dangerous tree located between the sidewalk and the curb at
706 Main Street. The Streets and Parks Committee recommended that
tree surgery on the tree be delayed until the rainy season commences
as to do work on the tree during this dry spell may mean the loss
of the tree.
Advertise On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge that the City

express Administrator advertise to sell the 1941 Ford-$. 3/4 ton express,
engine #99Y393314, and said bids to be opened on September 7, 194g
9:00 P.M. at the regular meeting of the City Council, was approved.
Demands On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Terry that the demands as
approved by the Finance Committee be ordered paid, was approved.
