The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order by
Mayor Greer at 7:30 P.M -
Councilmen present: LeBard, Terry, Seabridge, Langenbeck, Greer
Councilmen Absent: None.
The Clerk read the minutes of the meetings for the month of
August, 1949. On motion by Seabridge, seconded by LeBard the
minutes for the month of August, 1948 were approved as read.
The Clerk read the monthly reports of the City Clerk, City
Treasurer, Chief of Police, City Engineer, City Judge and City
Collector, and on motion by Langenbeok seconded by Seabridge the
reports were approved as read and ordered filed.
Reso.1052 On motion by Langenbeok seconded by Seabridge Resolution No.
1052, classification and salary of employees, was passed and
adopted by the following roll cafl:

The Clerk read a letter from the Huntington Beach City
Employees Association inviting the City Council and their families
to attend the Annual Employees Picnic to be held at Lhke Park,on
Saturday, September 11, 1948 at 3:00 P.M.
On motion by LeBard seconded by Langenbeck oil well drilling
bond filed by J. B. Nelson covering well on Lots 25 & 27, Block 619,
H.B. 17th Street Section, which well has never been drilled, was
ordered released as requested in letter from C. H. King, agent.
On motion by Terry seconded by LeBard the application of
Standard Oil Co. of California to drill new well Huntington B Lease,
Well No. 129, was approved. Councilman Langenbeck not voting.
On motion by LeBard seconded by Seabridge applications of the
Southwest Exploration Company to drill four new wells, State J-56,
34&Le J-59, State J-69, and State 92, were approved.
Drilling bonds presented by the Atlantic 011 Co., covering
six (6) wells, formerly owned by Porter Sesnon et al, and located
on Lot 61 Block 618; Lots 26 & 28, Block 518; Lots 14 & 16, Block 315;
Lots 18-20-22-24--26-29, Block 513; Lots 5 & 7, Block 514, and on Lots
10 & 12, Block 514, Huntington Beach, were accepted on motion by
Langenbeck seconded by LeBard.

house on Friday, September 10, 1949 from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. As
many of the City Officials as can do so will attend.
The Clerk read letter from County of San Diego, Recreation Department
asking for available information regarding the Municipal Trailer Park. The
letter was referred to the Beach and Pier Committee.
A letter received from the Pacific Coast Inter -Mountain Association of
calling attention to the conference of Fire Chiefs
Fire Chiefs/in Sacramento beginning October 31, 1949, and in Miami, Florida
beginning November 9, 1948 was tabled until next meeting of the City Council.
This being the time set for sale to the highest and best bidder for
cash at public auction of certain real property of the City as advertised,
the Clerk read written bid on Lot 21, Block 213, Huntington Beach Tract in
the amountcof $405.00 from A. J. Vanian, 112 - 7th Street, Apt. #a, Hunting-
ton Beach. Bid was accompanied by personal check in the amount of $40.50.
There being no other bids Lot 21, Block 213, Huntington Beach Tract was
sold to A. J. Vanian for $405.00..
The Clerk read written bid on Lots 14 & 16, Block 215, Huntington
Beach in the amount of $625.00 from Lorella Sutton, P.O. Box 612, Santa
Ana, California, bid was accompanied by personal check in the amount of
$62.50. There being no other bids Lots 14 & 160 Block 215 were sold to
Lorella Sutton for $625.00. `
There were no written bids on Lots 26 & 29, Block 313, Huntington
Beach. A bid from the floor in the amount of $600.00 was not accepted
as it was under the minimum price set. No further bidb were received and
the lots were withdrawn.
The Clerk read written bid on Lot 7, Block 312, Huntington Beach in
the amount of $500.00 from Dorcas Davis de Jong, 207-9th St., Huntington
Beach. There being no other bids Lot 7, Block 312, Huntington Beach was
sold to Dorcas Davis de Jong for $500.00. The buyer deposited a personal
check in the amount of $50.00 with the City Clerk. ✓
There were no written bids on Lots 21 & 23, Block 414, Huntington
Beach. The first bid from the floor was $1000.00. These lots were bid
UP to'$1525.00 and were declared sold to Mr. John H. Eader, 409 - 9th
Street, Huntington Beach for $1525.00. Mr. Eader•deposited a personal
check in the amount of $152.50 with the City Clerk.
The Clerk read written bid of $600.00 on Lots 15 & 15, Block 1114,
Wesley Park Tract, from H. E. Weidman, 406 - 10th Street, Huntington Beach.
A bid from the floor of $660.00 was raised by Mr. Weidman to $675.00.
There being no other bids Lots 15 & 16, Block 1114, Wesley Park Tract were
sold to H. E. Weidman for $675.00. Mr. Weidman deposited a personal check
40 in the amount of $70.00 with the City Clerk. r

There being no bids written or from the floor, on Lots
1 & 2, Block 812, nor on Lots 3 & 4, Block 812, Wesley Park Tract
these lots were withdrawn for new appraisal.
The Clerk read bid of Chris H. King as broker for M. M.
McCallen of $3010.00 for Lots S, 99 10, Block 812, Wesley Park
Tract. The offer was tendered subject to 5% commission to Mr.
King as broker, and was accompanied by Mr. Kings personal check
in the amount of $100.00. There being no other bids this bid
for Lots S, 9, 10, Block $12, Wesley Park Tract in the amount of
$3010.00, subject to broker's commission, was accepted, and de-
Clared sold to M. M. McCallen through his broker C. H. King.
The City Attorney advised that Lots 30, 31, and 32, Block
202 Vista Del Mar Tract, Huntington Beach, were not entirely clear
as to title, so this property was withdrawn and not presented for
sale.
Lots 30, 31, and 32, Block 1002, Vista Del Mar Tract, Hunting-
ton Beach were presented for sale. There being no bidders, these
lots were withdrawn, subject to new appraisal.
This being the time set for opening of sealed bids on stile of
house, located at City Yard, as advertised, the Clerk opened the one
bid received. The bid was in the amount of $150.00 from Ben Sievert,
Rt. 1, Box 373, Huntington Beach, accompaiied by check in the amount
of $15.00. Motion was made by LeBard seconded by Langenbeek that the
bid be accepted. Terry called for roll call on questiofn "Shall Sale
of house to Ben Sievert in the amount of $150.00 be aoceptedy"

The house was declared sold to Ben Sievert in the bid amount of
$150.00.
This being the time set for the opening of sealed bids on sale
of a 1941 Ford 8 truck, 3/4 ton express, license E63147, the Clerk
opened the one bid received. The bid was in the amount of $410.00
from Jeff D. Cowan, 12747 S. Alameda, Willowbrook, Calif., and was
accompanied by a personal check for $50.00. On motion by LeBard
Seconded by Langenbeek the bid was accepted and the truck sold to
Jeff D. Cowan for $410.00.

Freeways A letter from the California Highway Commission regerring to 40
procedure in the location or major relocation of freeways on the State
Highway system, together with resolution covering the subject, was
reach by the City Clerk. The letter and resolution were ordered filed.

The Clerk read a letter from the Administrative Officer submitting
classified list of city employees, in intermediate range with proper salary
step, payable September 15, 1948. On motion by LeBard, seconded by Langen-
beck the submitted classification and salary range and steps were approved.
The Clerk read lease agreement between the City of Huntington Beach and
Clifford L. Ring and Charlotte I. King covering concession in Pav-A-Lon.
On motion by S,eabridge seconded by Langenbeck the agreement was approved and
the Mayor and City Clerk were authorized to execute the agreement.
The Clerk read lease agreement between the City of Huntington Beach and
Robert A. Murphy covering lease of the Pav-A-Lon for daftoe hall. The lease was
referred to the Beach and Pier Committee for further study.
Onimotion by LeBard seconded by Langenbeck the demands as approved by
the Finance Committee were ordered paid.
On motion by LeBard seconded by Langenbeck the City Attorney was in-
structed to prepare an Ordinance for the repeal of Ordinance No. 396 for
submission to the people at the November General Election.
On motion by Langenbeck seconded by LeBard the Council adjourned to
Wednesday, September g, 1948 at 7:00 P.M-
