w• i 4b MINUTES COUNCIL Chamber, City Hall Huntington Beach, California Monday, November 1, 1948 The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Greer at 7:30 P.M. Councilmen present: LeBard, Seabridge, Terry, Greer Councilmen absent: Langenbeck The Clerk read the minutes of the meetings for the month of October, N 1949. On motion by LeBard seconded by Seabridge the minutes for the month of October, 1948 were approved as read. Monthly The Clerk read the monthly reports of the City Clerk, City Treasurer, Reports Chief of Police, City Judge, and City Collector. On motion by Seabridge seconded by LeBard the reports were approved as read and ordered filed. Cl Business On motion by LeBard seconded by Seabridge the following applications Applications for business licenses were granted: Luminart Neon Company of 11924 American Ave., Long Beach, Calif. to conduct the business of hanging neon signs. Pioneer Testing Company of 1073 Seabright, Long Beach, Calif. to con- duct the business of oil field testing service. George E. Glosser, 307} Main, Huntington Beach, Calif. to conduct the business of restaurant at 213* Main St., Huntington Beach, California. The Mayor announced that at this hour of 8:00 o'clock P.M., Monday, November 1, 1949, was the time set for sealed bids to be received and opened for the purchase of the foll- owing described miscellaneous property which was advertised to be sold in accordance with the publication of notice in- viting sealed bids appearing in the Huntington Beach News on October 14, 21 & 2$, 1949. - ► One 1934 Dodge 1* ton truck, one 1934 Ford Coupe, one 1935 Elgin Street Sweeper, one 1937 Chevrolet Coupe, one 1941 Case -Di Tractor Hough Dirt Loader, one 1936 Chevrolet 1* ton stake body truck. Donaher for the 1935 Elgin Street Sweeper $525.00 with $55.00 enclosed as the required deposit. Bosko Construction Company ;or the purchase of the 1941 Case -Di Tractor Hough Dirt Loader for $325.00 with a cashier's check enclosed for the amount of $100.00 as a required deposit. Mayor Greer asked if there was anyone in the audienos that wished to matte an oral bid on the Elgin Street Sweeper as advertised, and said oral bid must be ten per cent (10%) above the sealed bid received of $525.00. Bosko Construction Company raised the hid on the Street Sweeper, to $590.00. A. M. Donaher bid $700.00. There being no further bids on the Elgin Street Sweeper, Mayor Greer declared it sold to A. M. Donaher In the sum of $700.000 Bill of On motion by Seabridge seconded by LeBard that the City Clerk and the Sale Mayor be authorized to execute a bill of sale without warranty to A. M. Donaher of 10847 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, Calif. for one 1935 Elgin Street Sweeper, was approved. The Mayor asked if there was anyone in the audience that wished to bid on the 1941 Case -Di Tractor Hough Dirt Loader, and there being no oral bids received Mayor Greer declared the 1941 Case - Di Tractor Hough Dirt Loader sold to the Bosko Construction Co. in the amount of their sealed bid of $325•00- On motion by LeBard seconded by Terry that the City Clerk and Mayor be authorized to execute a bill of sale without warranty to the Bosko Construction Co. for 1941 C*se-D1 Tractor Hough Dirt Loader, was approved. Demands Ir Advertise for bidson fire engine The Clerk read resolution No. 1064, a resolution of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach, Calif., auth oriling the opening of a bank account to be known as City of Huntington Beach City Court Funds, and on motion by Terry seconded by Seabridge, resolution No. 1064 was passed and adopted by the following roll call: Ayes: LeBard, Terry, Seabridge, Greer Noes: None Absent: Langenbeok The Clerk read- resolution No. 1065, a resolution of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach, Calif. selling certain real property and authorizing deed therefor and on motion by Seabridge seconded by Terry resolution No. 1065 was passed and adopted by the following roll call: Ayes: LeBard, Terry, Seabridge, Greer Noes: None Absent: Langenbeek On motion by LeBard seconded by Terry that the Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to execute the grant deed to Lorella Sutton covering the purchase of Lots 14 ot 16 in Block 215, of Huntington Beach Tract, was approved. The request of Dwight H. Clapp of 944 - llth St., Huntington Beach for the waiving of the minimum rental of $50.00 a month on his beach conoession was referred to the Beach and Pier Committee for study and report. Councilman Langenbeck arrived at 8:45 p.M. Mr. V. H. Chapman, President of Sanitized Beaches In- eorporated appeared before the City Council and outlined his proposition for the sanitizing of the Huntington Beach beach area and showed photographs of what had been done at Manhattan Beach and asked that the Council consider his proposition to clean the beach east of the pier to the city limits on the easterly border. The proposition was tabled to allow further study and investigation. On motion by Langenbeok seconded by Seabridge that the demands as approved by the finance committee be ordered paid was approvd.
