Councilmen present: Terry, Seabridge, Langenbeck,_ Greer Councilmen absent: LeBard Business On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge the appli- Lieenses cation for business license of Will Ed Crowell to conduct the business of cafe at 213* Main St., Huntington Beach, was granted. Southwest On motion by Terry seconded by Seabridge the application Expl. Co. New Well of Southwest Exploration Company to drill a new well State J-71, was granted, Councilman Langenbeck not voting. Waste Water On motion by Seabridge seconded by Langenbeck the application Permit of the Cadillao Oil Company for waste water permit for well lo- cated on Lot 13, Block 416, Huntington Beach Tract, was granted. Oil Field The request of Oil Field Equipment and Supply Company for Equip. Co. Clean up termination of the liability on the clean up bond& for wells lo- Bond sated on Lots 2 & 4, Block 614, Lots 26 & 28, Block 614, Lots 25 & 27, Block 614, was referred to the City Engineer for further checking and to report at the next regular meeting of the Council., 0. L. Bolton On motion by Langenbeck-seconded by Terry the request of Clean up bond 0. L. Bolton for termination of the liability of the clean up bond for well located on Lots 26 & 29, Block 321, Huntington Beach Tract, was approved. Wilshire Oil On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge that the re- Co..6,19th St. between Walnutquest of the Wilshire Oil Company to construct a semi -permanent & Olive Ave s . - concrete mat to be used in connection with their unloading rack on 19th St. between Walnut and Olive Avenues and as approved by the City Engineer with a recommended change of installing a round culvert in lieu of the proposed 12 inch steel casing, was approved. Memorial Hall On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge that the fire Drapes — proofing -of the drapes on the stage in the Memorial Hall and the Horseshow Building and in the Chamber of Commerce Building be referred to the Building Committee for final disposition, was approved. City Clerk On motion by Langenbeok seconded by Seabridge that the City letter to E Ray Elliott- Clerk be instructed to write a letter to Ray Elliott, Superinten- dent of the Union High School, advising him that the City of Huntington Beach has no objection for them to hire Carl Rutter, janitor with the City, provided it is not in conflict with the policy of the School Board, was approved. 0 1 1 0 1 0 0 1 1 40 0 Page #2 Minutes - City -Council - November 15, 1948 Painting of On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Terry that the City Engineer parking lines be instructed to proceed with the painting of parking lines in accordance with the sketch submitted by the City Engineer for the area om the east side of Main St. between Palm and Acacia, was approved. City Engr. City Engineer, Harry A. Overmyer, gave a verbal report to the City St.Work rep- ort,- Council on the present status of the street work for the 1948-1949 �budget. Request from The City Clerk read a letter received from the Huntington Beach H. B. Company Company requesting that the City of Huntington Beach prepare a form letter in line with the recommendations of the Huntington Beach Company and will serve as a memorandum for the files of the Huntington Beach Company whereby the City of Huntington Beach grants permission for the employees of the Huntington Beach Company and Standard Oil Company a priority for starting time at the golf course between the hours of 8:00 a. m. and 2:00 p.m. on all Fridays and Saturdays. The request was re- ferred to the Golf Committee for further study and to report to the City Council at the next regular meeting. Letter to The City Clerk was -instructed to write a letter to the Sanitized Sanitized Beaehe's Inc. Beaches Incorporated advising them that the subject of beach sanitation has been deferred and will be considered in the Spring of the year. Children The matter of the children playing in the city parks causing playing in City Parks damages to shrubbery and plants was referred to the Streets and Parks Committee for further study and their findings to be reproted to the City -Council at the next regular meeting.
