Monday, December 20, 1948
Mayor Greer called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.
Members present: LeBaryl,Terry, Seabridge, Langenbeck, Greer
Members absent: None.
Applications On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge the following applications
or business
icenses for business licenses were granted:
Cal-Va Farms, Rt. 5, Box 627, Santa Ana, to conduct the business of retail
Milk Route.
Mrs. A. E. Shandrick, 228j Main Street, to conduct the business of nursery
at southwest corner of Main and Olive Streets.
Verl F. Rosenow, to conduct the business of hamburger stand at the Pavalon
building.
Dave Friedman, 1188 So. E. Street, San Bernardino, to conduct the business of
0 wheel -tax.
McCrery's, 334 Pine Avenue, Long Beach, to conduct the business of wheel -tax,
delivering appliances.
Refund of taxes On motion by Langenbeck seconded by LeBard the following applications for
refund of City Taxes illegally collected by the City of Huntington Beach for
the years 1946-1947, 1947-1948, and 1948-1949 as audited and verified by the
City Attorney, was granted:

rQuartette Oil Co.- On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Terry the request of the Quartette Oil
Clean-up Bond
Company for termination of clean-up bond for oil well located on the rear of
Lots 18 & 20, Block 615, H. B., was granted.
Bovey & Draper On motion by Langenbeck seconded by LeBard that the request of Bovey &
lean -up Bond
Draper for termination of clean-up bond for well located on Lots 1 & 3, Block
614, H. B., was granted.
Huntington Signal On motion by Seabridge seconded by LeBard that the request of the Huntington
Oil Co. -Clean-up
kDond Signal Oil Co., for termination of clean-up bond for well located on Block 2401,
Tract 77, was granted.

Diehl & Co. The City Clerk read a letter received from Diehl &
Audit- 9-30-48
Company, Certified Public Accountants, dated December 9,
1948 reporting on the audit of the accounts and records
of the City of Huntington Beach for the quarter ending
September 309 1948, the letter was ordered filed.
H.B.Public The City Clerk read a letter received from the
Library -Walls
Waterproof Huntington Beach Public Library requesting that the walls and
tl3e foundation area of the Library building be made water
proof for the future protection of books in the basement.
On motion by Langenbeck seconded by LeBard that the r 9-
quest of the Huntington Beach Public Library be referred
to the Streets and Parks Committee for final disposition
was approved.
Reso. #10 The City Clerk read Resolution #10 of the City of
Quincy Street
Huntington Beach Planning Commission recommending that
the present major through street of the City of Huntington #
Beach known as Quincy Street on the easterly end and
Wesley Avenue on the westerly end and that the through street
be named Quincy Street throughout the thoroughfare which
complies with the street naming system adopted for streets
in the easterly part of the City. On motion by LeBard
seconded by Langenbeck that the City Attorney be instructed
to draft a resolution incorporating the request contained in
Resolution #10 of the City of Huntington Beach Planning
Commission, was approved.
Reso. #1069 The City Clerk read Resolution #1069, a resolution of
3as Tax
Allocation the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach adopting
budget and approving first supplemental memorandum of
agreement for expenditure of gas tax allocation for major
city streets, and on motion by Langenbeck seconded by LeBard
Resolution #1069 was passed and adopted by the following
roll call:

State Dept. On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge that the

provisions of Chapter #47, Statutes of 1944, for repairs of
the digester at the Huntington Beach Sewage Plant, was approved.

The City Clerk read the informal bids for a two

Beach and the Guaranty Chevrolet Co. of Santa Ana,
California. On
motion by LeBard seconded by Terry that the informal bids on the two -
ton truck be referred to the Streets and Parks Committee for study a nd
report, was approved.
oodward- Youth The City Clerk read application for employment with the City of

Huntington Beach filed by Roy E. Woodward, 220 Fifth Street, Huntington
Beach, for a position as youth director. The application was ordered
filed.
Recreation On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge that the City
Commission Dept.
Attorney be instructed to prepare and ordinance to provide for a
Recreation Commission Department, was approved.
& E. Check On motion by Seabridge seconded by LeBard that a new F. & E
Writer
check writer be purchased in accordance with the recommendations of
the City clerk, was approved.
18" exhaust fan- On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge that the City
Memo.Hall kitchen
Administrator be requested to finder an eighteen inch exhaust fan
completely installed for the kitchen in the Memorial Hall in
accordance with the recommendations of the Building Committee,

Fluorescent On motion by Langenbeck seconded by LeBard that the fluorescent
fixtures- City
Hall fixtures be ordered for installation by the City Administrator for the
departments in the �Iity Hall Building as recommended by the Building
Committee, was approved.
Mem. Hall hoof On motion by Langenbeck seconded by LeBard that the City Engineer
and the Building Committee proceed with the repairs or the renewal of
the roof on the Memorial Hall Building, was approved.

On motion by LeBard seconded by Seabridge that the
City Administrator purchase completely installed a new
gasoline pump to replace the present pump located at the
rear of the City Police Station, was approved.
On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge that the
City Administrator be authorized to purchase one of three
six cubic foot rerrigerators, a Frigidaire, a Hotpoint or
a Norge for the Lake Park Clubhouse kitchen, was approved.
On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge that the
Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to execute the agree-
ment entered into and between the State of California, Dep-
artment of Natural Resources, Division of Beaches and Parks,
the City of Huntington Beach and the Southern California
Dater Company, for the installation of an eight inch cast
iron distribution pipe line adjacent to the Pacific coast
Highway, Huntington Beach, California, was approved.
On motion by_Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge the
meeting adjourned.
