Councilmen present: LeBard, Seabridge, Langenbeck, Greer. Councilmen absent: Terry. Applications On motion by Langenbeck seconded by LeBard the following applications business lie. for business licenses were granted: Caro S. Vachon, 532 Midvale Avenue, Los Angeles, California to conduct the * business of service station and allied business at 620 Ocean Avenue. James D. Bushard, R.F.D. #1, Boa 655, Huntington'Beach, to conduct the business bf machine shop at Block 19029 17th Street, B1 Charro, P. 0. Boa 454, s1 Modeno, California to conduct the business of wheel -tax, delivering tortillas. General Neon On motion by Seabridge seconded by LeBard the application of General Sign at 804 Ocean Avenue Neon Company for building permit to erect sign at 804 Ocean Avenue, was granted. Mongeon sign On motion by LeBard seconded by Langenbeck the application of L. G. �► at 31'2 Walnut Mongeon for building permit to erect a sign at 312 Walnut Avenue, was granted. Harry Hunter On motion by Seabridge seconded by LeBard that the request of Harry Clean-up Bonds. T. Hunter and Associates and Hunter & Thermon for release of liability of clean-up bond and termination on wells located on Lots 18 and 20, Block 614, Lots 2 and 4. Block 5179 was granted. P. & H. The City Clerk read a proposal from the P.'& H. Construction Company Conatr.Co. Lake Street covering improve ants on Lake street, whereby they will furnish all labor, tools, equipment, materials, supervision and insurance to construct the. following items at unit prices: Combination curb and gutter, 8 inch base, 18 inch gutter 1.30 per lineal foot. Curb only at the turns 1.10 per lineal foot. Gutters 6 inch thick, 18 inch wide .45 per square foot. and to remove all concrete, sub -grade and back -fill will be done by others. The City of Huntington Beach wi�l rnish all necessary engineering to establish lines and grades and the ork will be done under the supervision of the City Wnginaer in accordance with the City of Huntington Beach plans and specifications for concrete curbs and gutters. P. & H. On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge that the proposal of Contre.Co. Lake Street. the P. & H. Sewers -Wesley On motion by Langenbock seconded by LeBard that Park Tract, the plans and specifications for the construction of sanitary sewers in Blocks 912, 1013, 1113, 1114, and 1214, Wesley Park Tract, be accepted as presented by the City Engineer, was approved. Pimlott to The Clerk read a letter received from Lewis discontinue Pri.dances Pimlott, operator of the Friday night dances at the Pavalon Ballroom, advising the City Council that he was forced to discontinue the Friday night dances as the dancing public of the City of Huntington Beach have failed to support his dances. The letter was ordered filed. $10.00 rate On motion by LeBard seconded by Langenbeck that set for Pavalon. the rate of $10.00 be established for the use of the Pavalon Ballroom for each night covering Sunday, Non - day, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, was approved. Charter Amend, The Clerk read letter from the City Attorney, City Judge. Ray H. Overacker, in which he presented a certified copy of the amendment to the City Charter of'the City of Huntington Beach, respecting the City Judge as covered by the Assembly Con -Current Resolution No. 76, adopted in Assembly and Senate May 5, 1949• Mun.Tr. Park On motion by Seabridge seconded by Langenbeck that rental rates 14 increase the Municipal Trailer Park rental rates as recommended by the Trailer Park Manager, covering a 14*% increase over and above the rates in effect as of January, 1948, and effective May 15, 1949, was approved. K. Sargent and the Police and Fire Committee, was approved. Demands On motion by Langenbeck seconded by LeBard that the demands as approved by the Finance Committee be ordered paid, was approved. Gilson & Dahm The Clerk read the application before the Railroad Commission of Automotive service. the State of California of George W. Gilson and bank J. Dahm for the purpose of establishing an automotive service for the transportation of passengers between Santa Ana and Huntington Beach and intermediate points. The Clerk announced that the application is on file at the City Hall for any one that wished to read it. Verne Spaulding On motion by LeBard seconded by Seabridge that the City Clerk be to vacate. instructed to notify Verne Spaulding, who has a lease with the City of Huntington Beach for bait stand located on the City property adjacent to Highway 39 and Highway 101,.to officially vacate the leased premises by December 31, 1949, was approved. Purchase electric On motion by Seabridge seconded by Langenbeck that the City Clerk by are welder. authorized to purchase for the City of Huntington Beach an electric are. welder, was approved. Sale of tax Mayor Greer announced that this was the hour, 8:00 P.M. set for the title lots. sale of tax title lots as published in the Huntington Beach Dews: April 21, and May 5, 1949. The following lots were sold to the highest .btd er: Lot:; 13, Block 215, Huntington Beach Tract sold to Mr. A. E. Shandrick, 2281 Alain Street, Huntington Beach, for the sum of $277.50. Lots 10 29 39 &.4, Block 812, Wesley Park Section, -sold to the McCallen Realty Syndicate for $2400.00 pair, or a total of $2800.00. Lots 30, 31 & 32, Block 202, Vista Del Mar Tract sold to Phillip L. Davis, 218 Elmira street, Huntington Beach, for the sum of $1555.00. Lots 30, 31 and 32, Block 1002, Vista Del liar Tract, sold to E. L. Burrows, 523 - 10th street, Huntington Beach for the sum of $1380.00. The Clwk reported that there had been no written or verbal protests filed. As there were no written or verbal protests filed at the City Hall or expressions from anyone in the audience the Mayor declared the hearing relative to proposed changes in use district boundaries and classification closed., At. 8:55 P.M. the Mayor declared a recess of 10 minutes. The Mayor called the City Council to order at 9s05 ..M. Mayor Greer asked if there was anyone in the audience that wished to address the City Council, Ted Bartlett Ted Bartlett, operator of a filling station at 620 Serv.Station ordinance. Ocean Avenue, addressed the City Council and asked the honorable.body to consider the adoption of an ordinance regulating service stations in the City -of Huntington Beach. Warren Bristol Mr. warren Bristol, operator of a service station at Service Station that Ordinance 6,02 Ocean Avenue, adcluested/the City Council adopt. an: ad-ditance:.ragulating service stations in the City of Huntington.Beach, covering fire hazards and that only attendants or operators of service stations be permitted to dispense gasoline from the pumps.
