Mayor Greer called the regularly adjourned meeting of the City Council to order at 7:30 P.M. o'clock. Councilmen present; LeBard, Wood, Seabridge, Langenbeck,Greer. - Councilmen absefit:. None On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge the following applications for business licenses were granted: W. R. Bronaugh, 2331 Olive Street, Long Beach, to conduct the business of wheel -tax, delivering candies. J. B. Goodman, 1307 North Spring, Compton, to con- duct the business of pennyarcade in the lower floor Pavalon. Glenn L. Dow, 6091 Darlington, Buena Park, to.conduct the business of building contractor, A. E. Miller, 422 E. 5th Street, Los Angeles, to con- duct the business of peddling fruit and vegetables house to house, on veterans' license. Marion Grant, Municipal Trailer Park, Huntington Beach, to conduct the business of art shop in the lower floor Pavalon. Perma Stone Company of Santa Ana, by A. S. Miller, 217 - W. 4th Street, Santa Ana, to conduct the business of Perms. Stone of Santa Ana. Phillip A. Racine, Apt. #7 ,Plumlee Apartments, 814 MainLStreet, Huntington Beach, to conduct the business of peddling novelties from place to place on a veterans' license. Golden State On motion by LeBard seconded by Wood the application of Fireworks Mf g . public display the Golden State Fireworks Mfg. Company to conduct a public firegorks display on July 4th, 1949 in the City of Huntington Beach on'the Municipal Pier, was granted. Mrs. Tovatt- The Clerk read a letter received from Lylyan A. Mossinger, 2nd term on Library Board Librarian bf the Huntington.Beach Public Library, reporting that at a regulir meeting of the Library Board of Trustees held on June 14, 1949 the term of trustee Mrs. Berta Tovatt expires on June 30, 1949 and the Library Board of Trustees by a unanimous vote recommended that Mrs. Tovatt be appointed to serve a second term as trustee, said term ending June 30, 1952. Mayor Jack Greer recommended that Mrs. Tovatt be appointed to serve the second term of trusteeship on the Llbrary;;Board for the term ending June 30, 1952. Amer.Legion & The City Clerk read a request from the Joseph Rodman Post #133 Vets of For.Wars to use the of the American Legion and the Huntington Beach Post #7368•of the Pavalon Veterans of For -sign Wars requesting use of the Pavalon for Sunday and Monday,.July.3rd and July 4th, 1949 and that the charges be waived. On motion by Seabridge seconded by Wood that the joint request of the Joseph Rodman -Post #133, and the Huntington Beach Post #?368 for use of the Pavalon Ballroom on July 3rd and July 4th, 1949 and that the charges be waived, was approved. Reso.#1084- The Clerk read Resolution No. 1084, a resolution of the City cancelling taxes Council of the City of Huntington Beach cancelling taxes upon certain property within said City and on motion by Seabridge seconded by Lepard Resolution No. 1084 was passed and adopted by the following roll call: AYES: LeBard, Wood,Seabridge, Langenbeck, Greer. NOES: None ABSENT:a None Ord. #548- The City Clerk gave Ordinance No. 548, an ordinance of the City Salary - First Reading of Huntington Beach, California, amending Ordinance No. 434, entitled an ordinance fixing and regulating the compensation of city officers, deputies, assistants and employees of the .City of Huntington Beach by adding a new section thereto its first reading. Agreement betwn The City Clerk read an agreement presented by Joe E. Irvil, County County of Orange remote control Counsel for the County of Orange, said agreement between the County of sta.-lifeguard sere. Orange and the City of Huntington'Beach whereas the parties thereto desire that said remote control stations of the lifeguard service be operated and maintained in connection with the County of Orange Station RGHX, on the same terms and conditions except as provided in said agreement as for the operation of the police broadcasting remote control station in said city under the aforementioned agreement, dated May 26, 1941. Reso. #1080 The City Clerk read Resolution No. 1086, a resolution of the City Agreement on above Council of the City of Huntington Beach, California, authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk and ex-officio Clerk of the City Council, to execute for and on behalf of the City of Huntington Beach an agreement with the County of Orange for the operation and maintenance of a radio remote control station for the city lifeguard service, and on motion b y Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge, Resolution No. 1086 was passed and adopted by the following roll call: M0 972 Page #3 Minutes - City Council - June 28, 1949 49. NOES: None ABSENT: None Demands On motion by Langenbeck seconded by LeBard the -demands as approved by the Finance Committee.be ordered paid, was approved. Mayor Greer ordered a recess for f to minutes. .Mayor Greer called the Council to order at 8:40 P.M. Committee to Mayor Greer appointed a committee with Langenbeck work with Recreation Chairman and Councilman Mood to work with the Recreation Commission Commission members and the City Engineer on the program to complete the Community R eecreation Building and grounds at 17th Street and Orange Avenue. 1949-1950 On motion by Langenbeck seconded by LeBard that the budget accepted. 1949-1950 budget as submitted be accepted and approved, was adopted by a unanimous vote. Department On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge that all heads to meet with City Clerk the department heads meet with the -:City Clerk once a month to discuss their mutual problems for the purpose of coordinating functions and assist each other to bring about greater efficiency and economy in department opera- tions, was approved..
