Monday, July 18, 1949
The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order at
7:30 P.M. by Mayor Greer.
Councilmen present: LeBard, Wood, Seabridge, Langenbeck, Greer.
Councilmen absent: None
Business On motion by Seabridge seconded by Wood the following applications
Licenses
Granted. for business licenses were granted:
r J. R. McAvoy, 1614 W. Broadway, Santa Ana, for wheel -tax license,
DadIs Root Beer.
Anderson Bros., 2609 Moynier Lane, Cultrer City, for paving and
cement contractor.
Clean-up On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Wood the City Engineer's report
bonds.
of compliance with Ordinance No. 515, as required for termination of
liability of clean-up bonds at the following locations, was approved.

Lots 6-8 Block 520, H. B.
Lots 17-19, Block 320, H. B.

Plumbing On motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge, License Bond of
Bond
Square Deal Plumbing Company, 1108A, W. 4th Street, Santa Ana, was
approved.
Budget - No. On motion by Wood seconded by LeBard the resolution of the North
Or. Co. Mun.
Water District Orange County Municipal Water District gproving and submitting budget

for the North Orange County municipal Water District, was approved.
Ltr.Edison Co. The Clerk presented and read a letter from C. D. Shedenhelm,
Franchises.
District Manager, Southern California Edison Company, with reference
to Charter Amendment No. 9, permitting the City to grant 1937 Act
Franchises. The letter was referred to the City Attorney for study
and report.
Sewerage Disposal The Clerk read a letter signed by three residents and owners in
on Alabama Ave.
the 1300 block on Alabama Avenue requesting sewerage disposal in that
block. The request was referred to the Sanitation Committee for study
and report.
Berry - removal The request of Lemuel H. Berry, 601 - 7th Street, for the removal
of Palm trees.

ferred to the Streets and Parks Committee for final dispostion.
S.B. 851- The Clerk presented and read a letter from Stone and Youngberg,

�s Water. Investment Securitibs, San Francisco, calling attention to the fact
that S.B. 851, which would permit incorporated cities to issue re-
venue bonds to acquire or improve municipal water systems, now needs

only the Governor's signature to become law. On
motion by Langenbeck seconded by Seabridge the City
Council expressed its approval of the bill and in-
structed the City Clerk to write the Governor to that
effect.
H.B.-SantaAna On motion by LeBard seconded by Wood permibsion
Stage Lines -
Loading zone was granted the Huntington Beach - Santa Ana Stage .
Lines to load and unload passengers at the northwest
corner of Main Street and Walnut Avenue, just off of
Main Street on Walnut Avenue, and using the first
two parking spaces, was approved.
Ltr. from The Clerk presented and read a letter from Foster
Foster and
Kleiser Co. and Kleiser Company, in reply to letter written by the
City Administrator asking them to negotiate with the
City of Huntington Beach for some form of rental basis
covering the outdoor advertising sign located on the
52 acres, in which they state they would agree to pay
the City of Huntington Beach twenty-four dollars a
year for each panel now on City property or a total of
forty-eight dollars annually, payablg quarterly,
additional panels to be compensated for at this same
rate, and removal of panels would be made by their
company at any time the City desires the use of the
property._
Contract Foster On -motion by LeBard seconded by Seabridge the
& Kleiser to be
executed. Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to execute a
contract between the City of Huntington Beach and
Foster and Kleiser Company, covering rental of a por-
tion of the City's 52 acres for the purpose of out-
door advertising signs on a rental basis of Twenty -
Four Dollars a year for each panel now on City pro-
perty or a total of Forty -Eight Dollars annually,.
payable quarterly, additional panels to be compen-
sated for at this same rate, and removal of panels
would be made by their company at any time the City
desires the use of the property, was approved.
Demands On motion by Seabridge seconded by Wood that
the demands as approved by the Finance Committee be
ordered paid, was approved.

Ltr. C of C. The Clerk read a letter from the Huntington Beach Chamber of
Commerce thanking the City Council for participation and co-operation
in the 46th Annual Orange County Fourth of July celebration.
Bid -Sale & The Clerk read a letter from the Department of the Army, Corps of 0
removal of steel
Derrick onlOth Engineers, Los Angeles District, regarding Invitation to bid Lare 50-3,
which covers the sale and removal off site of a steel derrick and small
building located at the southeast corner of U. S. Highway #101 and `
30th Street in Huntington Beach.
- On motion by LeBard seconded by Langenbeck the City Council
adjourned.
