HomeMy WebLinkAbout1950-11-16• MINUTES HUNTINGTON BEACH PLANNING COMMISSION Council Chamber, City Hall Huntington Beach, California Thursday, November 16, 1950 The City Clerk called the meeting of the Plan- ning Commission of the City of Huntington Beach to order at 7:30 o'clock P.M. • Members present: Jack Pyles, Dr. Henry S. Kaufman, Florence Tunis, Herbert A. Wood, W. L. Schryer, G. M. Parks, Con- sultant, J. L. Henricksen, City Clerk. Members absent: Wm. E. Kettler, Frank Hinshaw Nominations The Clerk announced that nominations were in order for Chairman, Vice -Chairman and Secretary. Commissioners Schryer and Wood were placed in • nomination for Chairman. Commissioner Schryer declined the nomination and his name was tithdrawn. Wood- - On motion by Kaufman seconded by Schryer that Chairman Commissioner Wood be made Chairman and that the nomi- nations be closed and that the Clerk be instructed to cast a unanimous ballot for Commissioner Wood, was approved. Kettler- `Commissioner Kettler was nominated for Vice- V-Chairman Chairman. On'motion by Pyles seconded by Kaufman that Commissioner Kettler be made Vice -Chairman and that nominations be closed and that the Clerk be instructed • to cast a unanimous ballot for Commissioner Kettler was carried. Henricksen- City Clerk, J. L. Henricksen, was nominated Secretary for Secretary. On motion by Pyles seconded by Florence Tunis that J. L. Henricksen, City Clerk, be made Secre- tary and that nominations be closed and the Clerk be instructed to cast a unanimous ballot was carried. By -Laws The By -Laws of the previous Huntington Beach Planning Commission was read by the Secretary and re- viewed by the Commissioners and certain changes made. The Chairman instructed the Secretary to make copies of the amended By -Laws and mail a copy to each of the commissioners and to the advisory officials to be ap- pointed by the City Council to serve the Commission. Peterson Mr. Peterson appeared before the Planning Com- mission and stated that he desired to deed to the City of Huntington Beach eleven (11) feet of his property in Block 103, Vista Del Mar Tract for alley purposes and outlined the reasons why it was necessary to confine the alley to eleven (11) feet due to prior structures for improvements on the property would not allow the 15 foot alley right-of-way. The Commissioners reviewed his request. • On motion by Kaufman seconded by Pyles that the Huntington Beach Planning Commission recommend to the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach the acceptance of the deed offered by Mr. Peterson for right-of-way for alley purposes in Block 103, Vista Del Mar Tract, wes approved. 0 Page 2. Minutes - H.B.Planning Commission • November 16, 1950 Underpass at The proposed elimination of the underpass at 17th St. 17th Street and the Southern Pacific Railroad Tracks and the re-routing of 17th Street over the railroad tracks was reviewed by the Commissioners. On motion by Kaufman seconded by Schryer that the Huntington Beach Planning Commission recommend to the City Council the approval of the plans for the re- routing of 17th Street over the railroad tracks and the elimination of the underpass, was approved. W. E. Draper The Planning Commission reviewed the thirty (30) feet of property deeded by W. E. gaper on Florida Avenue between Indianapolis and Hartford for street • purposes and on motion by Kaufman seconded by Florence Tunis that the Planning Commission of the City of Hunt- ington Beach recommend to the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach the acceptance of the right of way deeded by W. E. Draper on Florida Avenue between Indian- apolis and Hartford Streets for street purposes was approved. Zoning Map The Secretary was requested to write to the Planning Commission of the County of Orange for map showing the zoning by the County to the north and the east of the City limits of the City of Huntington Beach. • On motion by Kaufman seconded by Pyles the meet- ing of the Planning Commission of the City of Huntington Beach was adjourned at 10:05 P.M.
