CITY OF HUNT INGTON BEACH

Monday, March 12, 1951
Chairman Wood called the meeting of the City
Planning Commission to order at 4:30 P.M.
Commissioners present: Wood, Tunis, Pyles, Kettler,
Schryer
Commissioners absent: Hinshaw, Kaufman
Others present: City Attorney, C. A. Bauer
City Engineer, Harry Overmyer
Public The Chairman announced that the meeting was
hearing- called for the purpose of holding the Public Hear -
Howard ing on the Petition for Conditional Exception filed
O'Brien by Howard O'Brien requesting a variance to permit
oil production from well located on Lots 3, 59 7,
and 9, Block 1704, Tract No. 51, in the City of
Huntington Beach, as per legal notice published
in the Huntington Beach News on March 1, 1951.
The Chairman asked if anyone present wished
to make a statement for or against the requested
variance.
Wm. Gallienne addressed the Commissioners
and asked what assurance the City would have that
O'Brien or future owners would keep' -the property
clean and free from unsightly equipment or debris.
City Engineer Overmyer stated that the ordi-
nances and regulations of the City and requirements
of the State Gas and Oil Division will control the
future oil production from the property.
' On motion by Schryer seconded by Tunis
that the City Planning Commission recommend to the
r City Council that the variance as requested by
Howard O'Brien to permit oil production on Lots 3,
5, 7 and 9, Block 1704, Tract No. 51, be granted
subject to the conditions contained in the Petition
for Conditional Exception and also subject to the
following condition, was approved:
1. That the derrick be removed and prop-
erty cleaned up within ninety days
from date of granting the variance.
On motion by Kettler seconded by Pyles the
meeting of the City Planning Commission adjourned.
