HUNTINGTON BEACH PLANNING COMMISSION

Tuesday, March 20, 1951
Chairman Wood called the City Planning Com-
mission to order at 7:30 o'clock P.M.
Commissioners present: Wood, Tunis, Schryer, Pyles,
Kettler, Kaufman
Commissioners absent: Hinshaw
Others present: Bauer, City Attorney
Overmyer, City Engineer
On motion by Schryer seconded by Tunis that
the minutes of the meeting of March 12, 1951, be
accepted as mailed, was approved.
Discuss out- Chairman Wood requested that this meeting be
line for used to discuss the outline for a Master Plan of the
Master Plan Beach and stated the meeting was open for discussion
on the subject.
Consultant Consultant Parks explained in general the
Parks features of a master plan. That a Master Plan is
a general plan and not a precise plan and can be
amended to fit the needs of the public and community.
He read a proposed outline for a Master Plan of the
Beach which contained eleven basic provisions. In
line with the outline for a Master Plan of the Beach
he presented maps showing partial sections of the
Beach that might be used as a guide to what a Master
Plan of the Beach should include.
Dwight Clapp Dwight Clapp, Chairman of the Beautification
and Beach Committee of the Chamber of Commerce
appeared before the Commissioners and stated his
committee desired to work with the Commission to
formulate a Master Plan of the Beach that would be
accepted by all interested parties as well as the
public.
Robt.Pyles Robert Pyles appeared before the Commissioners
and offered the services of the engineer of his org-
anization to work with Mr. Parks, the City Engineer
and the Commission to hurry along the proposed out-
line for a Master Plan of the Beach.
Need for Maps- Consultant Parks pointed out to the Commis -
Topographical sioners that it would be necessary to have a topo
& Cross Sec. graphical map and cross section maps of the Beach
and Bluff Areas to complete a Master Plan of the
Beach and area to include the Coast Highway Right
of Way.
On motion by Schryer seconded by Kettler
that the Commission recommend to the City Council
that the City Engineer be authorized to prepare a
Topographical and Cross Section maps of the Beach to
include the Coast Highway right of way from the
westerly city limits to the easterly city limits,
was approved.

regular meeting of the City Planning Commission
adjourned.
