Pursuant to adjournment of the regular meeting of
June 17, 1952 Chairman Schryer called the adjourned
meeting of the Planning Commission to order at 7;40
otclock P. M.
Commissioners present; Tunis, Davis, Kettler,
Kaufman, SchryerT _
Commissioners absent: Pyles„ Hinshaw.
Others present. Consultant Parks, City
Attorney Bauer,
City Clerk, Henricksen.
Re -zoning Chairman Schryer announced that ghat this meeting
of R-I zone,was called for the purpose of discussing the proposed
area betv,*n. re -zoning of the present R-I zone located easterly of
Hiw87 #39 &• Highway #39 to the Santa Ana River and &long Coast
Santa Ana Highway #101 and had invited the property owners and
River. those having interests in the area proposed to be re-
zoned for an, expression of their views and ideas as to
the best zoning to the interest of everyone and the
community.

Chairman Schryer asked if anyone in the audience
wished to give an expression regarding this proposed
re -zoning at this time to please step forward and
make their desires known to the commissioners.
Attorney Blodgett, representing property owner
Peter Karales, stated that his client desired that his
property be reserved for agricultural and oil, and
also thought_ that business should be permitted front-
ing Ocean Avenue or Highway #101 and multiple dwelling
be allovied at Ocean Avenue and further stated that
his client had leased all of his property for oil
production.
Mr. Madrill, representing R. C. A. Communication
Inc., stated that he had no comment to make on be-
half of the compantr and further stated that their
property up to the present time had not been leased
for oil.
Daisey E. Thorpe asked the Commissioners as to
what the City wants, as far as zoning is concerned,
for the area under discussion, and stated that her
property had all been leased for oil_,and for bill
board rights.
Mr. Wynn, representing Mills Land and Water
Company, stated that their property had all been
leased for oil, to the Pacific Supply Cooperative
Company.
Attorney 1,toore, of the Mills Ltn d and Water
Company, suggested that the enire area under dis-
cussion be placed in the lowest possible zoning
classification until such time that the drainage
problem had been solved.
Mr. Gair, of the Surf Land Company stated that
their property had been leased for oil production
to the Pacific Supply Cooperative Company.

John Garrish stated that he would like to see a
zoning made combined with oil and desired an industrial
zoning for his property and adjacent areas.
Wm. Gallienne, Secretary of the Huntington Beach
Chamber of Commerce, stated that they were interested
in seeing industry located on the City owned 44 acres
and to include sufficient area adjacent to the 44 acres,
owned by the City, for industrial purposes.
Per. Atha stated that the oil wells which they had
put in production have been turned over to the Pacific
Supply Cooperative and suggested that -the entire area
be left open for oil production at present in order to •
allow complete exploration of the oil possibilities,
wY�ich answer should be available in the next six or
seven months.
Henry Garnish stated that their Lk0 acre area- is
not sufficient for an industrial area in itself,
especially vh ere an air strip is concerned as adjacent
areas that would have oil well towers and other struc-
tures and would be detrimental and a hazard as far as
the air strip is concerned.
Attorney Moore, representing the Mills Land and •
Water Company, reported to the Commissioners of the
various meetings of the property association relative
to discussions and meetings that have been held
relative to the drainage problem confronting the area
under discussion.
There being no further discussion on the re-
zoning of the area the adjourned meeting of the Plann-
ing Commission of the City of Huntington Beach
adjourned.
