Pursuant to adjournment of the regular meeting of
the Planning Commission Chairman Schryer called the meet-
ing to order at 7:45 P.M.
Commissioners Present: Tunis, Davis, Stang, Schryer

The Secretary read the legal notice of Public
Hearing re:
Hearing as requested by Chairman Schryer, that was published

in the Huntington Beach News January 22, 1953. Said notice

calling for two public hearings, on the,third day of
February, 1953, 7:45 P.M., and on the seventeenth day of
February, 1953, 7:45 P.M., for the purpose of considering
the proceedings initiated by the Planning Commission of its
own motion, to amend Section 9414.4 of Article 941 of the
Huntington Beach Ordinance Code by adding to the list of
uses therein the following:
?'Dry Cleaning Plants,_provided a conditional permit
therefor is granted by the City Council in each
specific case.", and that Section 9414.6 of said
Article be amended by adding to the list of uses
mentioned therein, the following: "Laundries of
the self-help, automatically operated type, pro-
vided they are located entirely within an enclosed
building" and also that Section 9434.2 of Article
943 of said Code be amended by adding to the term
"Laundries" the words "except as otherwise pro-
vided in Section 9414.6 of Article 941".
The Secretary reported that no opinions, oral pr
written,had been received for or against the proceedings
initiated by the Planning Commission of its own motion.
Chairman Schryer asked if anyone in the audience
wished to discuss the matter in the legal notice for public
hearing as read by the Secretary. There being no response
from anyone in the audience the Chairman declared the hear-
ing closed.
Ghairman Schryer informed the Commissioners present
that the subject matter in the hearing was open for general
discussion. The Commissioners discussed at great length as
to what restrictions could br should be placed on dry clean-
ing plants, such as limitation on capacity, relation of dry
cleaning plant to type of buildings adjacent thereto, and
allied problems, in order to help formulate conditions under
which a dry cleaning plant could be permitted in the C-3
zone.
On motion by Davis seconded by Stang the meeting
of the Planning Commission of the City of Huntington Beach
adjourned.
