Pursuant to adjournment of the adjourned meeting of
the City Council, Tuesday , August 4, 1953, the Clerk called
the adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach to order at 7:00 o'clock P.M. in the absence
of Mayor Seabridge.
The Clerk or der ed a recess at 7:01 o'clock P.M.
Mayor Seabridge arrived at 7:44 o'clock P.M. and called
the City Council to order.
Councilmen present: Bryant, Wood, LeBard, Seabridge
Councilmen absent: Talbert
Mayor Seabridge requested the Clerk to read the legal
notice covering the hearing on Tuesday, August 4, 1953.
The Clerk read the legal notice, notice of public hear -
ing that was held on Tuesday, August 4, 1953, for the purpose
of an open hearing on the appeal to the ruling of the Planning
Commission on the proposed tentative subdivision map of Tract
#1916, to be located on portions of Blocks 1907 and.1908,
East Side Villa Tract, City of Huntington Beach.
Mayor Seabridge announced that this adjourned meeting
was to further discuss the tentative subdivision map as in-
cluded in the notice read by the City Clerk and asked if
any one present had anything further to add, for or against
the proposed subdivision.
City Engineer Overmyer reported that he had met with
Councilman Talbert at Councilman Talbert's request, and that
Councilman Talbert had suggested that the subdivider change
his plans to include a complete development for the entire
area of Blocks 1907 and 1908, up to the right-of-way of the
State Highway #39, and to have a street go through to a
service road set back 50 feet and paralleling Highway #39
instead of the culdesac street as shown on the plans.
Mr. Ralph Wel ch, the owner and subdivider, and his
representative Mr. Bell, appeared before the City Council and
stated that they had nothing further to add and that their
plans for subdivision was good planning and in accord with
similar subdivisions with culdQsac streets that have gone

into and been developed in other cities in the county, and
that the purpose of the culdesac street is to give more
privacy to the property,_; owners and to eliminate traffic and
that the easterly.protion of the property fronting Highway •
#39 was being retained for other types of development and that
they would agree to a 50 foot service road paralleling Highway
#39-
There being no further statements for oragainst the
proposed tentative subdivision map Tract #1916, Mayor Seabridge •
declared the hearing closed. ,
City Attorney . Bauer .outlined to the City Council the
requirements for the filing of the final map to the City
should the proposed tentative subdivision map Tract #1916
be approved.
On motion by Wood seconded by Bryant that the proposed •
tentative subdivision map Tract #1916, to be located on por-
tions of Blocks 1907 and 1908, East Side Villa Tract, City of
Huntington Beach, be approved and to include approval of the
51 foot culdesac street and the one-half alley and subject to
the deeding of a five foot strip- for easement purposes for
utilities and that the owner deed the streets and alleys to
the City was approved by the following roll call vote:
AYES: Councilmen: Bryant, Wood, LeBard, Seabridge
NOES: Councilmen: None
ABSENT: Councilmen: Talbert
Purchase On motion by Wood seconded by Bryant that the City
police cars •
from Mandic Purchasing Agent be authorized to'issue a purchase order to
Motors
Mandic Motors Inc. for two four -door sedan Plymouths for
the Police Department, in accordance with the quotation on
file and to include the trade-in of the 1951 Ford Police Car
#453, was approved.

On motion by Wood seconded by LeBard the adjourned
meeting of the City Council adjourned.
