None The Clerk read Resolution No. 1202, a resolution of the 8ity Council of the City of Huntington Beach, California, fixing the tax rate for said City of Huntington'Beach for the fiscal year 1953-1954. On motion by .Talbert seconded by LeBard-Resolution No. 1202 was passed and adopted by the following roll call vote: AYES:. Councilmen: Bryant, Talbert, Wood; LeBard, Seabridge NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilmen: None. On motion by LeBard seconded by Talbert that the re- quest of Fred. Swartz, -Chief Lifeguard, .to change the classi- fication of employee. Jim Way from laborer to equipment oper- ator and said change in classification and rate to be effec- tive Aguust 16,'1953, was approved. The Clerk read the amendments made by'the 1953 Legis- lature to the State Employees' Retirement Law. Mayor Seabridge referred the amendments made by the 1953 Legislature to the State Employees' Retirement Law to the Finance Committee for study and report. The Clerk read a communication received from the County Sanitation Districts.of Orange County, California, thanking' the Planning Commission and the City Council for prompt recom- mendation and approval. for their petition for conditional ex- ception to construct sewage plant facilities within the City. The Clerk read a communication received from the California Highway Commission attaching a .resolution adopted 4 by the California Highway Commission relative to procedure on location:or major relocation of freeways on the State Highway System for the pupose of furnishing,a wider dissemination in freeway location cases. 7 • • 343 • 1 • • E • • • 1 .Page #3 Minutes - Monday, August 17, 1953 Jim Briggs The Clerk read a communication received from Jim Ford Briggs Ford, distributor of Ford automobiles, City of Hunting- ton Beach, asking the City Council if either the product or service has been unsatisfactory as his recent bid on two Mainline 6-cylinder cars for the Police Department was low by a substantial margin. Councilman Wood reported that the bid of Mandic Motors, Inc., on two cars for the Police Department, was lower than that of Jim Briggs Ford. L. E.Johnson- Mayor Seabridge referred the request of L. E. Johnson removal of tree to the Streets and Parks Committee, requesting removal of a large tree in the front of the property at 611 - 5th Street. D.Futernick On motion by Wood seconded by Bryant that the City property - abate Council of the City of Huntington Beach find that in actor d- nu i. s en e e ance with the r eport of the survey of the City Engineer that the improvements on the property of David Futernick located on Atlanta Street adjacent to Lake Avenue consisting of a wooden frame building encroaches on the right-bf-way of Atlanta Street and is a public nuisance, and instruct the City Engineer and the City Attorney to take the necessary steps to abate the nuisance was approved by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen: Bryant, Talbert, Wood, LeBard, Seabridge NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilmen: None L.A.Wells- The Clerk read the following offers submitted by offers for property Lyndon A. Wells, of 101 Walnut Avenue, Huntington Beach, Calif orniat "I herewith submit an offer of $50.00 per lot for the following four described lots towit: Lots 18, 279 28 and 29, Block 1402, Watson's Resub., vd- thout warranty of title. I herewith submit an offer of $75.00 for the follovL ng described lot towit: Lot 5, Block 1402, Watson's Resub., without warranty of title. Attached herewith is a check in the amount of $27.50 repre- senting 10% of the total purchase price of aforementioned five lots". Mayor Seabridge referred the offer of Lyndon A. Wells to the Real Estate Committee for study and report.
