HUNTINGTON BEACH PLANNING COMMISSION

Tuesday, December 15, 1953
Chairman Schryer called the regular meeting of the
Planning Commission of the City of Huntington Beach to
order at 7:30 o'clock P.M.
Commissioners present: Schryer, Tunis, Davis, Stang, King,
Presson
Commissioners absent: Kettler

Minutes On motion by Stang seconded by Davis that the minutes
of the Planning Commission of the City of Huntington Beach
for the meetings of October 27, 1953 and November 17, 1953
be accepted as mailed by the Secretary and ordered filed,
was approved.
The Secretary reported to the Commission that the City
Council at a regular meeting held on November 2, 1953, re-
ferred the study of street naming and street numbering to
the Planning Commission for further study and report.
St.naming Consultant Parks presented to the Commission a

ing Plan outlined suggested changes in the names of streets to give

street numbering greater consistency.
The Chairman suggested to the Commissioners that they
study the proposed changes in street naming and street
numbering as set forth in the plan presented by Consultant
Parks and be prepared at the next meeting to pro -mesa a
resolution calling for a public hearing.
Chairman Schryer departed at 8:10 o'clock P.M. Com-
missioner Stang was appointed Chairman pro-tem.

Island - The Commission held a general discussion on the possi-
Drilling bility of island drilling being permitted in the tide lands
area in the City of Huntington Beach, and proposed suggestions 0
be made to provide for the preservation of the beaches and
recreation facilities.
G. Millard Parks outlined changes that have been made
in the recent State Legislation affecting sub -division lams
and requirement standards and presented a draft of proposed
amendments to the Huntington Beach sub -division requirements
and standards.
The Chairman suggested to the members that they review
the proposed changes in the sub -division requirements and
be prepared at the next meeting to make constructive sug-
gestions so the Commission can make the necessary recommenda-
tions to the City Council.

E.Presson, On motion by Davis seconded by Tunis that the Planning

Planning Commission for a term of four years expiring on
September 18, 1957, was approved.

Consultant Parks presented to the Commission members
a proposed plan in accordance with previous discussions by
the Commissioners for the re--onin of portions of the
R-5-0 Zone lying north of Highway 1101 and ;!esterly of
Hampshire Avenue.
Mayor Seabridge, who was present at the meeting,
addressed the Commissioners and suggested that action be
deferred on the proposed re -zoning of the R-5-0 District
until the present tide land legislation by the State is
concluded.
Consultant Parks presented to each Commissioner
present a chart for future reference showing the right-of-
way needed for park:iays of various widths for parking
and traffic lanes;
On motion by Davis seconded by, Presson the regular
meeting of the Planning Commission of the City of Huntington
Beach adjourned.
