Councilmen present: Bryant, Talbert, Wood, LeBard, Seabridge Councilmen absent: None On motion by Wood seconded by Talbert the applications for license to conduct business in the City of Huntington Beach were granted as follows: Eagle Bakery, Los.Angeles, the business of'delivering bakery product#, wheel -tax. J. B. Palmer, South Gate, the business of hanging Neon Signs. E. C. Gray, 231 - 1st Street, Huntington Beach, the business of tourist rooms., at 231 - 1st Street, Huntington Beach. Edward R. Leonard, Corona De1.Mar, the business of building service stations, general contractor. Carl R. Minear, Huntington Beach, the business of painting.. On motion by Talbert seconded by "Wood the Travelers Indemnity Company License Bond No. 455094 for Robert P. Biscailuz, dba Biscailu4 Electric, and as approved for form by the City Attorney, be accepted and ordered filed, was approved. On motion by LeBard seconded by Talbert the Travelers Indemnity Company License Bond No. 455119 for Lawrence J. Hooker, dba Larry►s Plumbing, and as approved for form by the City Attorney be accepted and ordered filed, was approved. On motion by LeBard seconded by Wood the application for oil well permit of the Southwest Exploration Company to drill a new well State 3.48, was granted. On motion by Wood seconded by LeBard the application for oil well permit of the Southwest Exploration Company to drill a new well 'State 506, was granted. On motion by Talbert seconded by LeBard the application for oil well permit of the Atlantic Oil Company to drill a new well Huntington Beach No. 1, located on Lots 5, 6, 7, 82 Block 102, Vista Del Mar Tract, was granted. Bernie Mayor Seabridge referred the request of Bernie Donald of the Sea - Donald breeze Bar-B-Q for the City to put in a curb in front of his place .of business, to the Streets and Parks Committee for study and report. Mayor Seabridge referred the request of the petitioners, to remedy R ' the conditions of the alley in the 1100 and 1200 block between Delaware • and England Avenues, to the Streets and Parks Committee for further study and report. H.F.Berry Mayor Seabridge referred the-�requuest of Herbert F. Berry and Eva Mae Berry for consent to transfer their two license agreements • to Lowry J. Bjerknes, to the Beach and Pier Committee., Reso. 1215- The Clerk read Resolution No. 1215, a resolution of the City accepting grant deed Council of the City of Huntington Beach accepting grant deed to certain real property and authorizing the recording of said deed. On motion by LeBard seconded by Talbert the City Engineer be instructed to build two lifeguard stations in accordance with plans sub#iitt:ed at a cost not to exceed $250.00 each, was approved. On motion by LeBard seconded by Talbert.that in accordance with a report made by the City Engineer, and as reported by the Southern California Water Company it is necessary for the protection of health at the Municipal Trailer Park to place proper check valves on the water lines at loca_ti.ons_indicated.by the Southern California Water Company and instructed the City Engineer to have the valves installed and said valves to be paid by the City of Huntington Beach, was approved. On motion. by LeBard seconded by ':Wood the regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach adjourned. Mayor • 401 • • • MINUTES Council Chamber, City Hall Huntington Beach, California Monday, April 19: 1954 Seabridge Immediately following adjournment of the previous City Council elected Mayor the City Clerk then called the new Council to order and informed them that the next matter of business was that of choosing a per- manent Chairman and/or Mayor for the ensuing two years. Whereupon,, Councilman LeBard moved that Roy Seabridge be nominated for the position of Mayer. Themotionwas seconded by Councilman Bartlett. There being no further nominations., the motion of Councilman LeBard, seconded by Councilman. Bartlett, was carried by a unanimous vote and Roy Seabridge was elected. Mayor for the. ensuing two-year term,! Mayor Seabr..idge. appointe.d Councilman. Ted W. Bartlett to take over the committee_ duties of outgoing_ :Councilman Thomas B, Talbert and Councilman Arch F.
