Tuesday, May 18, 1954
Chairman Stang called the regular meeting of
the Planning Commission of the City of Huntington
Beach to order at 7:38 o'clock P.M.
Commissioners present: King, Presson, Schryer, Stang
• Commissioners absent: Davis
Others present: J. L. Henricksen, City Clerk
Others absent: Consultant Parks,
City Attorney Charles A. Bauer
City Engineer Harry A. Overmyer
Minutes On motion by Schryer, seconded by Presson, the
minutes of the Planning Commission meeting for the
monthe of April, 1954, as transcribed and mailed
by the Secretary, was approved.
Ruby J. Chairman Stang opened the continuation of the
Fouts= discussion on the petition for conditional exception
petit.for filed by Ruby J. Fouts of 419 - llth Street, upon
cond.excep., which a public hearing was held at an adjourned
granted meeting of the Planning Commission on May 11, 19549
On motion by Schryer seconded by Presson the
Planning Commission of the City of Huntington Beach
recommend to the City Council that the petition
for conditional exception filed by Ruby J. Fouts
for permissionnto operate a rest home for the aged
on the property with the address of 419 - llth Streets
City of Huntington Beach, be granted subject to the
following conditions, was approved;
1. Patients not over 6.
2. Only ambulatory patients.
3. City License be revoked should the State License
be cancelled.

cond.excep.,- Huntington Beach, upon which a public hearing was
granted held at an adjourned meeting of the Planning Comm-
ission on May 11, 1954.
On motion by Schryer seaonded by Presson the
Planning Commission of the City of Huntington Beach
recommend to the City Council that the petition for
conditional exception of Clark C. Peterson for
permission to drill an oil well on the property
described as the five acres surrounding said oil
well %h ich is to be located nineteen hundred feet
east along Pacific Coast Highway from the center
intersection of Highway #101 and Highway #39, thence
150 feet north, was approved, subject to the following
conditions:

1. That no building, structure, tank, sump, re-
servoir, rig or equipment be located within 50
feet of the northeasterly right of way line of
the existing State Highway known as Ocean Avenue,
or within 50 feet of any existing County road.
2. That there shall be not more than two identi-
fication signs, a combined area which shall not
exceed 12 square feet.
3. That this permit shall not relieve applicant or
owner of land involved or lessee thereof from
any of the requirements of laws and ordinances
affecting the use permitted hereby.
4. That off street parking shall be provided upon
the land of owner or lessee for all trucks, cars
and vehicles incidental to the permitted use as
well as for the vehicles or cars of employees.
5. If the well is abandoned or not operated for a
period of 12 months• all equipment and materials
used for or in the process of drilling or pump-
ing or in the process of storing or transporting
oil and all accessories to such operations shall
be moved from the parcel.
The Planning Commission held a general discussion
on the possible re -zoning for limited agricultural
purposes on the area east of Hampshire Avenue to the
Santa Ana River.
On motion by Presson seconded by King the regular
meeting of the Planning Commission of the City of
Huntington Beach adjourned.
